Ya I'm he same as you on that. As soon as I start up the wood working tools I start to sneeze. That being said I still like to do a bit of wood working sometimes. A couple of years ago my wife and I renovated the full house ourselves.

New windows, flooring, paint and I had purchased a replacement wall oven but we could get one to fit the opening of the old oven so I had to make a completely new cabinet. It took me two days to do it but she was happy and really, that's all that matters when it comes to the house :D

At least I managed to keep everything square

What can't you do or make Paul? My woodworking skills consist of hack work (e.g. temporary jigs and the like).

Your supposed to put it on the work surface, not roll around in it :D I thought you big time guys with CNC controllers just hit go and come back after break time :)

CNC...what's that? :D The closest thing I have to CNC is if I make a jig for repetitious fabrication.

I think it needs more shields and guards.

perhaps a double push button safty 4' apart, and lets put up some orange cones and wrap the entire thing off in caution tape just to be shure.

after all

SAFTY FIRST!

Glad you cleared that up :laughing::thumbsup:

Matt. That's a statement I'll never believe. You hack nothing sir and I know that for a fact  ;)

When it came to doing the house renovations we tried to get a contractor and they kept telling us "next week". Next week would come and they would tell us "next week" again so I said the heck with it I'll start in and see what I could do my self. The next thing i knew my wife and I had it all done. Three months of working every night and all weekends but It was done very nice if I must say so myself. I laid down all the ceramic flooring and did all the carpentry work my self including all the windows in the house (13 of them). My wife and I did it all with out loosing one hours work in the shop so that was great plus by doing it ourselves It gave us extra money that we didn't have to spend on labor to put extras into the house.

Just as we completed it all the contractor showed up to start  I won't repeat what I said to him on here because your all to young to hear it

I'll have to take a pic of my carpentry shop and show you one of those days. That's a side of me you haven't seen yet :)

Now there's a few thoughts. I'll have to get working on them and see what I can come up with

The funny part about all of this Ironworker project is that an engineer who frequent our shop for his vehicle repairs noticed the Ironworker and started asking questions about it. I started to explane what I did and showed him how I did it.

Turns out this guys owns a Hugh fabrication plant in the city and looked at me and said " Your coming to work for me". You'll have the plant managers job with an excellent salary, new truck that you can use for personal use and I'll include profit sharing"

I said "Ya right". He replied "I'm dead serious" Come in and look at the operation which I will next week. You never know who's watching do you?

I doubt I'll accept the offer. I work 50 feet from my home (yes. I'm a back yard mechanic) There's always work here at the shop and we scratch a living at what we do. There's a job here for my wife as well and we have 15 years of loyal customers to think about as well. The new job would be a 45 minute drive each way every day. That being said I will go check out the place. Might even snap a few pics for ya :D

Paul, I'd like to see the pics if you manage to go BUT there is something to be said for what you have now for sure! I've got some of those things he promised you and that includes the 45 min. drive....it stinks. I've often sat and thought about how I could work from home. Is the money and perks worth it?....

I try and keep an open mind with these sort of issues. That being said there's no way he can match what I'm doing here but then again I wouldn't be working to many 70 hour weeks either.

I'll go have my little tour and check it out. The only perk I can see is having a scheduled holiday once in awhile. The last real trip I was on for a vacation was back in 2001. Running my own business with just me doing the work means I have to be here most of the time or the buck stops. And folks say it's great to be self employed. Really for the most part it is. It's just very demanding but rewarding. Thanks for your comments Jay

That caused another problem because folks thought I was selling it and dropped by to ask how much :( I had to put a "Not For Sale" sign in the window

My Uncle once told me "Everything I own is for sale, some prices are just higher than others."
