Nice job! It really looks good on the tractor, i did a search on the wiper motors that you want and had no luck.

The only place i know is jc whitney.

how much do you think your cab weighs right now without the glass?

i looked at jc whitney the ones i saw were replacement for old vacume wipers. are these the ones you are talking about. they look like they would work great with one 3/8 hole for mounting. but how do u know about the sweep angle it says 90 degrees on the motor but how do u translate that to wiping the window as far as will it work & which length arm to get.does the motor not matter & it is based on the arm & wiper blade length. i will check surplus center. i am guessing the cab weighs 200-300lbs. well i am off to get welding supplies ran 12lbs off wire through my welder already.

I went back on jc whitneys site, i don't know which arm to get.

When you go to the page on wipers, go down until you see one that
says (HEAVY DUTY) $43.99 it doesn't say anything about replaces old
vacuum style motors. And it says you can mount it above or below the windshield.

Then go on down the page until you see (SINGLE SPEED MOTOR)$46.99--$48.99 It can be mounted above or below the windshield also And it says nothing about replacing old vacuum style either.
But it is 12 or 24 volt.

When you click on one you can see where people have asked questions about the motors, one person wanting to know if you could put one on a boat windshield, you can read all the questions.

But on the (SINGLE SPEED MOTOR) someone asked about putting one on a van, and it said this motor was for (CUSTOM USE APPLICATIONS).

I had a '57 Chevy step van that came with vacum motors for the wipers. I replaced the vacum motors with the ones from JC Whitney. They worked great.
If I remember right the arms I bought had set screws so they would fit any size shaft. Just had to set them so that the sweep was where I needed to see through.

In my case there was a tube to run the shaft through but that would be easy. Just make sure you put a rubber washer under the nut on the outside so you don't get water running down the shaft and into the motor

Very impressive job Dirtnut. Maybe someday I will get the time to build one of these myself. A couple of questions: Did you you do any mock up with wood or use any software to come up with the final frame design. Also, how is the cab mounted to the machine. Did you have to make special mounting pads which to bolt to the tractor or add any cross members to accomplish this. Maybe you could show pictures of how this is done? Great job, look forward to the completed unit.

Dirtnut, I did a cab project about 10 years ago for my ford 1310. I made the cab in several pieces so I could remove it in the summer as I have trees to mow under. I made it an awfull lot like yours with only one door. I now have a kubota b7510 and retrofit it to this tractor but I made 2 doors this time as I was not happy only being able to exit one side. I used 3/4x3/4x1/8 square steel tube with aluminum sheet to skin the top and partly down the sides. I went to the local wrecking yard and and got some windows out of a micro bus. I used plexi glass to skin the rest of the cab all windows and skin are very dark and makes it easier on your eyes in the winter sun. The front window is clear glass to see at night. the door windows are from a jitny from work. I atached all the windows and plexiglass with self drilling and self tapping screws.

So is 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/8 a strong yet light enough tube to go with? We will be starting our cab in the spring, once it is warm enough.

drivadesl-thanks.i work consruction operating heavy equipment so we are on our seasonal shutdown till the weather breaks so i have the time now to work on it.i did not do any mock up.i thought about doing one with wood but decided it would be a waist of time because what ever i did with the wood, i would be repeating with the steel so i went right into it.the design was from my mind seeing other cabs i did what would work for my tractor. most cabs have a basic design so its a matter of fitting the tractor and adding or deleting what you want. if you look in i think my first post i have pics of the mounting brackets if they are not clear enough i can take better close ups. the front vertical rail has a stud welded in the bottom which passes through a plate welded to the bottom of the loader subframe then is secured with a lock nut.above that about a foot i cut a hole in the verticle rail on the inside & welded a nut flush in the rail, this is bolted to a piece of angle welded to the loader subframe.on the back i cut a piece of plate steel to match the rops frame welded it to the cab frame then it is bolted to the rops.

WilliamBos- that depends on your design, i am not an expert. if it is framed for just holding glass it should be ok. if you are eliminating the rops it should be heavier.i will not have the upper part of my rops so i went with heavier higher strenght steel and doubled the supports in the back at the rops. i also have 6 places where it is bolted to the tractor.
