I've been to taxachusetts, (wife has relation there) land tax is MUCH higher than in the upper mid west where we live, as is everything else there. The rest of the east coast cost more than here too... housing, gas, food, tires ect... How about those land prices over that way??

Sales tax here is 6%, but I don't have to pay sales tax on the tractors or any farm type equipment I buy... how about you?? I guess we better not mention your firearms laws, either!! lol

OK, you like where you live (though you don't say where that is?). I like all the places I've lived: MA, NH, KY, FL, and GA.

There are high and low land prices in different parts of New England, there are high and low tax states in New England, there are strict and loose firearms laws in different states in New England. The one thing that does seem to hold is that we pay more for tractors than other parts of the country, at least small tractors like Kubota. I got as good a deal as anyone round these parts and it was still a couple grand more than the best deals elsewhere.

If you are asking about state sales tax, Massachusetts does not tax equipment used on commercial farms, production machinery like milling machines, equipment used in Research and Development, etc. I believe if I took delivery of the tractor in MA I would have had to pay sales tax: not sure as it was purchased in NH and lives there.

Oh one other thing New England states share: rocks. We got a lot of rocks. Glaciers brought them. If you are wondering where the glaciers are now - they went back to get more rocks.

Yes and Al Gore blames humans for melting those rock depositing glaciers. All of the global warming, I mean climate change people cannot explain why some glaciers are melting and some are growing, like Antartica. There are some scientists predicting a mini ice age soon. It has nothing to do with humans though. They predict a lull of solar flares on the Sun. Hmmmm, how's that possible. The Sun controls the heat of the Earth? I thought it was carbon dioxide. It only makes up 0.04% of the earths atmosphere or 400 ppm. It has varied over time from 7000 ppm to 180 ppm. There is no doubt carbon dioxide levels affect the temperature of the earth, but there are outside uncontrollable forces that do to. Sorry about the science lesson.

I wished they were that price here. I think we have the highest prices in the lower 48 states in the northeast.

You can buy a new 20' 12K equipment trailer for $4200, and shop anywhere for a tractor,..... either new or used.
The trailer may almost pay for itself, with a tractor buy from out of state (maybe even no sales tax), and then you will also have a trailer for moving your tractor, as well as all sorts of other uses.

This is true, but some dealers can be funny about warranty work if you don't buy from them.

If a local dealer treats you poorly, because you bought elsewhere, you will certainly not buy from him next time either. You will likely tell your friends about poor dealer attitude/service as well.
I would never allow myself to be held economic hostage by a dealer,...... on the HOPE of future good service.

But since you've got a 20' trailer, you can just drive to the guy who wants your business.

Hey dogpatch, any update?

Mine is getting delivered next week, and since it is 750 miles from the Cabela's that sold it, I am wanting to get a shop manual to do most of the maintenance myself.

I'm especially interested in also getting cross reference for the filters.

Because Cabelas has the warranty responsibility as the selling dealer at your location . . have they discussed with you how warranty work will be handled? Remember . . the tractor may be coming from 750 miles away but its your selling location that is the responsibility.

That warranty work could be handled in one of 3 ways I'm thinking:

1. Cabelas could do the work in their own service shop in the area.

2. Cabelas could pay a TYM dealer in the area to do it for them (cabelas collects warranty pay and pays TYM dealer their shop rate).

3. Cabelas hires a tractor service center to do the work but same conditions as # 2.

4. Cabelas transports it to a regional service center of either # 1 or # 2.

All of these 4 options may be possible for warranty work and if # 4 you wouldn't be responsible for the transport costs . . that would be on Cabelas.

But I'd want to ask now and get something in written form. Cabelas is a reputable and honest operation and the product is good product . . but because the tractor is coming from 750 miles away . . I'd still want clear understanding of warranty process imo.
