Can my tractor handle running this Baler?

That is a lot of bales to pick up. We baled hay with a small tractor and baler that dropped the bales on the ground when i was a kid but we were only picking up 400 - 500 bales at the most. Still looks like fun.

I had a 14t and ran it just fine on 38hp pto new holland 3415, problem with 14t is parts availability i did not bale on any steep grades, i could bale as fast as i wanted, usually ran the old girl till she started hammering badly and backed down the speed a little made better bales this way. remember always wear your seat belt when using the baler.

We've run our JD336 on a Kubota L5030 for hmm, 6 years now, baled somewhere around 30,000 bales that way. Tractor is none the worse for it. We tried pulling a wagon once. You could tell it was hard on the tractor so we stopped. Last year I started using my big 100 hp tractor but without HST it isn't as fast.

Thanks for your comments wmonroe, tpic402 & slowzuki. Thought I would post a few pics of the last of our Hay Harvesting (first cutting) for all interested. Hope I'm not getting too off topic with all this but I know how well we all like pics here on TBN.

These pics are showing some of our yield after baling and then the final step of running stacker. We got less than I thought we would but still ended up with over 2500 Bales . We are finishing up stacking tomorrow. Our 90' barn is being built now too , the last three pics will be of the starting of our barn. Thought I would throw a few barn pics in. It should be done in two weeks.

Oh, the tractor is a old Massey Ferguson model 285 and the Stacker is a old 70's New Holland Stackliner 1032 and stacks 84 bales at a time. Here we go guys , enjoy !

Nice, the stacker is great. I was picturing you going through and picking them up by hand and stacking them on the hay wagon. Is there a reason that a wagon wasn't pulled when it was first baled instead of coming back and picking them up?

If you go to a stacker you don't need to mess with throwers and wagons of jammed together bales. The stacker unloads far faster and lets the baler run faster too.

Still looks like fun.

A long list of words come to mind when i think of handling baled hay.

Fun doesn't generally appear on my list :(

Most of the words have a 4th letter involved ;)

Stackers and/or accumulators are all that!

Round balers are all that AND a bag of chips!

Then big squares would be all of that and a bag of chip plus something cool to wash it down. :)

I seriously can't stand small squares but nothing is easier to feed, at least for us, come winter.

The guy that is doing our hay is doing many other fields so he does things in steps kinda. He probably had someone helping in stacking on one field while he is baling mine I would guess.

LOL, very well said and I have to agree with you, especially on your first line. I'll tell ya, these small bales are a lot of work and I still have to get em' in the new barn yet after its built. Really the only reason I like the small bales is for ease of getting them to different areas to feed my horses. Now if I had a bigger tractor of my own I would go bigger bales. Not many people doing small squares anymore.

It sure feels good after ya' get it all where you want it though, LOL. :D
