Can one weld a Steel Hot Pressure Washer Coil?

At a loss now. I would not have bought this thing for a grand and I will have more than that into , plus a bunch of time when I'm done. If I quit now, I got a $100.00 hands-on, Hot Water Pressure washer education.

I am also very discouraged how difficult this thing is to get the water out of it for freezing protection and have no warm place to keep it. That factors big into my decision whether to repair it. They rent for $139/day and even the rental place says that this time of year is iffy for freezing. When I consider rental, the price of a coil seems worth it. Like half a dozen rentals. Sometimes I just can't get used to everything costing so much.

You DON"T NEED to get the water out of it for freeze protection!
Just keep a gallon or two of RV anti freeze handy for when you want to store it at below freezing temps.
Suck the antifreeze in, when the outlet water turns pink, shut 'er down.

Take the spray wand off, suck the antifreeze in, then when the outlet water turns pink, shut 'er down.

I have a 40+ year old "Hotsy" that I pickle that way.

That's a good idea. Is the hot water washer worth having?

S#$T Apparently my coil is a highly "TECHNICAL" coil and even more expensive!

But I have been in contact with other companies that will gladly sell me the same coil from the same place and mark it up 35%!

After further review, I'd say she's cooked.

Submitted all the specs and pictures to Farley Inc. Will see what price they get back to me with. Heck shipping could be $200.00 and my NY depot fee, Canadian HST, a 6 hour trip in a 3/4 ton p/u. I might just park the thing in a corner.

"Is the hot water washer worth having"

That answer for me would be YES!
I have an 1850 psi homeowner "Sun Joe" cold water washer that is a cheap POS, but it is very portable.
I have an almost new 4500 psi 13HP Honda powered cold washer that is a brute.
I have a 40+ year old 1000 psi electric "Hotsy" that I love!

The 4500 psi cold water unit will blast grease off of anything, or rather, smear/move grease around on anything.
That antique 1000 psi electric "Hotsy" will CLEAN grease OFF of anything.
It is the hot water (with soap) that REALLY makes a BIG difference!

If one is dealing in used cars, rvs, equipment and such I consider a hot washer a good investment. My nephew has to rent a hot washer once ever couple of years for use on a job. After the job is finished,we clean our personal stuff. Way better than high pressure washers. I couldn't believe how much better my fiberglass 5th wheel looked compared to scrubbing and power buffing I had always done. As Fried said, oil and grease come's right off. I can't justify buying one just to use around my place but wouldn't be without one if I was in the business of painting heavy equipment or tractors.

Still comes down to the integrity of the pipe. If it can be cleaned and is in good shape and only cracked due to frost, Weld it.. If it's corroded, Throw it in the scrap pile.
I think this is great advise here. If wall thickness is good (little corrosion) then probably worth an attempt to fix. Otherwise it is a battle you will lose.

I really only have one piece of somewhat greasy equipment at the moment that would be slated for a good cleaning.

I also have one of those old electric heated tanks with the pheumatic pump that every service station used to have. You plug it in first thing in the morning, and can hot wash wash around 4 pm. I guess people were not in such a hurry back then. A friend gave it to me maybe twenty five years ago. Tried it and put it on a shelf in the barn. I have a bigger compressor now and it might make a dandy load bank for exercising a generator.
