I figured some you have bought ones you'd never buy again (due to spilling while pooring etc.).

Are there any to avoid or look for?

I saw this 5 gallon round heavy duty looking metal one at the dealer but wasn't sure if it was the right one to get.

It looked like this one 5 Gal Yellow Type 1 Safety Can 10811 by Justrite Manufacturing | DoItYourself.com

Is 5 Gallon too big to handle?

Does diesel go in a Yellow Cans?

I have the justrite diesel fuel can (same as the one in your link). It works reasonably well other than fuel left in the spout which can still pore out when you tip it back. It is also quite heavy compared to a plastic can but much more durable. It is a bit of a bear fueling my B3030 as the fuel tank cap is in the middle of the hood near the windshield. I think the BX fuel tank cap is on the fender so it should be fine for fueling a BX.

I got mine along with a red gas one from eBay. The eBay pricing was much better than any mail order dealer that I could find.

This is the can that I purchased, got it at our local auto parts store and they also sell them through Northern tool.

I wasn't sure just how easy it was going to be to use, but with the dual handles and the no spill spout it is very easy to use with my B-7500, even going over the FEL lift arms. If I would have had time I would have looked around for 2 1/2 gallon cans just to make it easier to lift up. To date I have not had a single drop spill out. With that said I think I will have someone else fill the tank up next time LOL

I don't care for the plastic can but that auto shutoff spout is pretty cool, can't count the number times I've over filled a gas tank.

Wouldn't your tractor prefer a diesel fuel container???:D :D :D

I'm with WayneB on this one I have the plastic fuel container and it works like a champ. Real easy on the BX as the fuel filler neck fits into the spill-proof spout as if they were designed for each other. Just rest the cantainer on the neck and the weight of the fuel holds the valve open. I had a full container fall over in the back of my station wagon and not even so much as the sniff of diesel. I'd buy it again, I was going to get a second one but the fuel consumption on the BX is so low I can imagine using more than 5 gallons in a day. There is another thread on fuel cans and I suggested this can and got slapped around a little so opinions vary.

It depends on where you store your fuel. If you store it in your garage in your home then the yellow metal can is the way to go. Because during a fire the can will not fail and spill the fuel also the lid will raise to relief the internal pressure to prevent the can from exploding.

If you store the can in a shed or a building away from your home then a plastic can if fine. Diesel fuel is a combustible not a flammable liquid so the hazard is much less then gasoline.

What I do is use a pump like this one to move the fuel to the tractor. I raise the seat up, put the can on top of the fuel tank, and use the pump to transfer the fuel, nice and easy on the back. By the way I would NEVER use this type of a pump with gasoline. The battery/motor is a source of ignition, results in a large bang, followed by a large flame ball, and a very bad day.:D Wally world has then for about $10 or so.

As usual, I guess it all depends and there are pros and cons to both. I used to use all metal - military style jerry can and ones like MSWLogo showed, along with the ones for the outboard on my boat. Over time I have settled on plastic and completely on the ones like WayneB showed. These no-spills have a good seal, good venting, and work great. Think the brand is Blitz. Of the 5 gallons I have 8 (4 for gas, 2 diesel, 2 kero) I have 4 or 5 for 2gal as well. I've had other no-spill plastic brands, with a different type of spout. Spiders and wasps would make little mud nests in the spout which would fall into the the tank of whatever I was filling. Also the venting wasn't right, because they would eventually create a vaccum and the can would crinkle like a crushed milk carton. And they wouldn't regain their shape - so I worried about the plastic splitting. The metal cans were fine, but all would eventually rust and dent. But I didn't store mine in the garage - have a "mini" shed (like a large dog house) to store all the fuel.

The no spill is great - really a necessity with some of the small generators where the fill hole is in the dead center of the tank - unless you siphon pump, it is near impossible to fill without spilling, with a regular spout can.

Plastic seems to take abuse better too. I've heard the argument about static with the plastic, but have never had that happen. Whichever way you go, good construction is still key - a well made plastic will be better than a cheap metal and vice versa. The Blitz aren't top of the line, but well made for the price

I bought a Duramax 14 Gallon Fuel Caddy from Northern Tool & Equipment and am very happy with it. It might be a little on the expensive side but it sure works great. I have it elevated so I can gravity feed with out having to continually squeeze the hand pump. It's on wheel and can be laid flat or kept upright. You might want to take a look at something like this one, I found it to be well worth the money for the time saving and convenience.

The can is manufactured by Blitz and if you desire they still make the metal jerry type cans, price is up there and they will dent. You have to be careful with what ever type of fuel can you use. I looked at the caddy type tank, but at the time I figured it was just too big for what I need. I just don't go through that much fuel with the tractor.
