builder, just go get the 2360 and have fun. you already know kubota quality. quality is remembered, long after price is forgotten!!

The 2305 uses 1/4 inching hitch if that is of importance to you.

TripleR; Could you explain how the 1/4 inching hitch works on the 2305. I have this tractor and can not for the life of me find any reference to this in the owner's manual, nor can I find any mechanism on the tractor which might be for this 1/4 inching valve. In other words, I haven't a clue how to operate this function.
It would be great if you could tell me how to operate this feature.
Thanks.

I was in error and should have said "non-position control"; sorry.

I wish I could agree with you, but I'm actually more impressed with Deere quality than Kubota. Once about 10 years goes by, it seems to me like Deere looks better than Kubota. My Deere GT series tractor is probably one of the nicest pieces of equipment I own and the quality is excellent. The old Kubotas from the 70's & early 80's did hold up fantastic, though.

My M-7040 is a real good tractor, but the cab is a little on the cheap side and the plastic sun faded real bad.

The Deere is less of a tractor, costs more, and has pretty pathetic financing compared to Kubota, but still has me interested. That alone is a testament to Deere.

All that said, the BX2360 is cheaper (dealer lowered price even more) and is more tractor with way more attractive financing. Probably so much so, that I will end up buying it.

I would really be into it if they'd offer HDAP's. I can't seem to find out how much the switch over to HDAP's would cost....

In general, I believe John Deere makes a very good quality tractor, but don't accept they are, as a brand. better than Kubota. After owning and using our JD2305 for a little over a year, we were disappointed with it and bought a new BX2660 for use on the farm where my wife and I live. We had been using a BX2200 and wanted a little bigger tractor and were considering another John Deere.

The 2305 has been in the shop three times and had to have work on the deck including a new hydraulic cylinder. If we don't clean the screens about every hour they will become clogged and the engine will over heat. It has no heat temp gauge, so you don't know until it's too late.

I don't like all of the plastic on it and the MMM deck belt is about half the thickness of the Kubota.

We use both mowers pretty hard often mowing in less than ideal situations.

My wife still uses the JD2305, but I will trailer our BX2660 up there if I need to use it for more than 30-45 minutes.

Some people are very happy with the 2305, I am just not one of them.

In your particular case, I'd agree with you. I think the 2305 is one of Deere's lesser quality tractors. Probably why it's being replaced end of this year. I still wouldn't hesitate to own one if it fit my needs.

From what I have seen the replacement is going to be a real improvement; too bad I am out of new tractor money for quite some time.

Maybe I should wait until I see what it's all about before I buy. However, I bet it will fetch a high price and no affordable financing in its' first year....:(

builder, you stated that you cut hay. have you considered a 3pt hitch mounted disc mower for the m7040? that would keep you far away from the bank. you could also cut the whole field with it. i'm sure these can be had cheaper than any of the tractors you are looking at. it would also be a good backup for the machine that you cut hay with now.

I wish. I can't afford $5,000 for even a used one right now. Looking for a $1,000 sickle with a 7-9' bar as we speak (I mean type) to cut stream banks.
Using Alamo flail for fields. I co-op cutting hay with a farmer that lets me use some of his implements, but I need to get a sickle-soon.

didn't know they were so expensive. someone on here advertises drum mowers, maybe they are cheaper.
