Kubota B3030
Is anybody running a TM series Caroni flail on a Kubota B3030? I just finished cutting both sides of my 2500' common driveway and a 1/2 acre frontage lot with a "borrowed", used 5' rotary cutter. It seems to shake a lot, there is definitely vibration that shakes the tractor some, didnt seem to cut that great and every time a car went by all I could think of was hitting a rock in the 2' high grass and killing somebody.
So I read the threads on Caroni flails and I am thinking about buying one with the adjustable hydraulics, I just dont know which to buy a TL1500FSC or a TM1600FSC? will the B3030 handle a TM?

I'm not sure but I thought only the TM1900 had the hydraulic shift feature. I have a TM1900 and I'd keep it if I switched to a B3030.

IT. The shift kit will fit the TL and TM series. The Caroni site has a file that shows the amount of shift for all mowers. That is what I thought I remembered but I just checked it.

Thanks for the correction.

IslandTractor, what is the PTO HP of your tractor?

32hp at PTO. But that is considerably more than needed to run the TM1900 except in heavy brush. I usually don`t mow at rated PTO speed and have no trouble with the engine turning about 1800rpm or so. If I was using the flail more like a finish mower than a bush hog I would not hesitate to get the 1900 if I had a 30hp tractor like the B3030. If my main intent was to bush hog then I might go smaller or would just know that I would need to mow more slowly. The size and weight of the flail would not be an issue for the B3030.

I run the TM1900B behind my L3130HST with no problems and our delivered PTO hp are not much different. I say go for the TM1900.

In the BIG Flail Mower thread it is the general consensus that you need about 4hp per ft of mower. 6 ft would then= 24 hp (pto) and you have almost that. It would be fine on stuff that is mowed regularly, and rough, long stuff you would just have to go a tad slower.

I think you'd be fine.

My L3000 has 27 PTO HP and it works fine with the 1900.

bumping this up, any more opinions on the right size for a b3030? I think I'm in the market for a flail mower. Some heavy brush, but I don't mind going slowly if that'll make it work

I have a Landpride flail and am surprised how light a load it is for the tractor. I would have gone to the next size up if I had known. It hardly ever feels like the tractor is working very hard to turn it.

Bigman, I just took delivery of a Caroni TM 1600 BSC with my new Mahindra 3016 tractor and used it for the first time yesterday. PTO hp is 23. I was surprised at how simple the whole operation was. It cut 5ft tall grasses without any problem at all. I got good advice from other TBN users on another thread and I'm very pleased with my purchase. (All three hours of use so far. )

Other users suggested I go with the TM 1600 instead of the TM1900 for my 23hp. If you end up going for the TM1900 let us know how that goes.

Did you actually get a TM1600 or is it a TL? The TM has knives mounted via a clevis while the TL knives attach directly to the rotor. I was not aware that any US supplier imported any TM models other than the 1900.

Hello Charles,

MY dad ran his 7 foot John Deere finish mower behind his Ford Jubilee with no issues knocking heavy brush right to the sod and you will have lots of power to run the Sicma from Ken Sweet as he is a site sponsor in good standing or a Caroni flail mower.

I made the picture larger and he did buy a TM1600.

I love it when we have another flail mower convert in the family:thumbsup:

So what dealer is importing the TM1600? First I've heard of one here.

I dont remember the name of the firm that

if he is importing them again?

IslandTractor. Yes mine is a TM 1600 BSC. I purchased from my tractor dealer in Sonoma County California. I believe his distributor is in Texas. The price was about $1k more than it would have been from Agri Supply. Agri doesn't stock the TM1600.
