Dang Bird! I haven't driven down that stretch of road for at least 20 years. Didn't even know it was still around. We had a nickname for that place but I can't post that here.

I took my 67 Mustang out there probably 4 or 5 times. As I remember, the end of the shutdown strip had a banked curve to the left. I remember racing a 55 Chevy once, and I was beating him but he was coming on strong at the end. A little too strong, since he passed me after the finish line and didn't make the curve. Went over and down the embankment but he turned out OK.

This one was on Cedar Creek Rd. and although I don't remember any killings, there were some fights. It was a 1/4 mi. no shade that I remember, not that it mattered back then, but some boys from Tn. came up and messed it all up for us, had to be cheatin cause they were beatin us. I only got to run there a couple of summers and they closed the place down.

Well guess I`ll have to put my 2 cents in too...lol..I`ve built and sold so many HP and street rods kinda hard to rember them all...The best 3 I`ve owned would be thusly..*sigh* #1-1962 Ford XL convertable (405 HP 406 CI,4 spd ) #2 1963 Impala convertable (425 HP,409 CI..nascar special motor,Z11 I believe,posi..she`s real fine my 409 ) #3- 1964 comet cyclone with a built 1965 cobera motor. probably 325+ hp.4 spd,411 posi...one of the fastest street cars in the mid 60`s..and yes it was raced every weekend in cleveland !!! *sigh* excuse me while i get another box of tissues...bawwwwwwwwwl....Sid

Ok, I'll bite:
1973 Plymouth Fury III 4 dr. This car has been in my family since it was built. My Mamaw Raney bought it new, sold it to my Dad and he let me drive it in HS.
Favorite story: Carpooling w/ friends to college class. Joke made about "big iron" when it was my turn to drive about it making it. Drove 100mph the 12 miles to class. Shut my friends up. At break I snuck out and poured a gallon of water and 2 qts of oil in her for the trip back. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
rebuilt the engine when I got back from college, drove it for 6 mos w/ no hood, but boy that chrome air cleaner looked good!
Car is still behind the house waiting for it's "restoration"
