They're mixing metaphors. One says deaths by homicide, while you apparently searched for firearm deaths.

Sorry. We have a boatload of murders here and no one really seems to care. Especially the elected leaders.

Crazy talk, i'll probably die from using the mask, from what i hear, oh and you can't do work in them and you can't wear them all day.

I've had a very productive year at my job. I've had to wear a mask for over a year while at work when around others or inside any of their facilities; about 6-7 hours a day. I'm on my feet all day doing light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and other duties as assigned. I average about 4.5 miles a day at work, and another couple miles after work. I had diminished lung capacity when I was young. I was worried that might come back with COVID. I do think I get out of breath a little easier now since I've had COVID, but I still manage to run up 5 flights of steps with little trouble multiple times a day, even with a mask on. It takes me about 45 seconds to catch my breath at the top, while before COVID it hardly affected me. I'm 60. Nothing's changed in the last year accept having COVID, so I'm fairly sure it has affected me a bit. Hopefully I can push myself to regain the endurance that I had. I'm not used to having to catch my breath.

I'd like to thank everyone who got vaccinated for doing your part in protecting the community you reside in. Not to mention the whole nation.

Yeah, its patriotic to help that way, but lets not make those who question the vaccines safety unpatriotic, either.

Had someone tell me today they can’t use the elevator at work, they all have to use the stairs. I mean everyone huffing and puffing climbing stairs together to me don’t make sense.

Glad I work in 1 story building. I take my mask off when no one is around.

Pretty close to 91.5 from COVID.

Not quite the media coverage. But real none the less for STL residents.

St. Louis is an odd situation. The city's population is only around 300,000, while it's metro area is 2,800,000. Not many people realize just how small the city of St. Louis actually is. So yes, there is a very high murder rate per 100,000 in St. Louis. proper, however, the metro area as a whole is not high.

Idaho ranks 22nd in the nation for COVID cases per 100,000 people.

Comparing cases per 100,000 people is useful for states like NY and CA who have the highest # of COVID cases to say "see, we are not that bad". I would still rather live in a state with a low total count, not by multiplying the cases by a factor to compare to the worst states.

Good new here in CT. On Wed, May 19, anyone who is vaccinated will no longer have to wear a mask. The good news is that by studying the number of people not wearing masks in CT, we will know we are 100% vaccinated!

The real reason the mask mandate is going away is the government needed to make another crisis go away. Just like paying $5M in ransomware to solve the Colonial Pipeline crisis. This will be their mission accomplished moment for COVID.

And I am not anti-vaccine. I was vaccinated in December. I just think the govt is a bunch of smoke and mirrors on this and many other things going on.

Not factoring in covid most people I know would greatly benefit from using the stairs vs elevator. I'm in a rural area and many neighbors use a golf cart/Utv to check the mailbox....walking is just getting too hard. I think the masks bothered many people because they are so out of shape and the mask gave them the first taste of exercise in years/decades. YES, you breath hard when you exercise...just a reminder. Lol

I had a boss like that - climbed 9 floors every morning. He was afraid of elevators.

Many years ago, working on Hanford reservation welding on racks used for depleted fuel. They had one wear full face respirator, and paper coveralls. The racks weren't radioactive, they were worried about dust containing alpha emitters. Wrestling with heavy metal to get pieces in place in full sun in the summer time, and not rip your coveralls put a strain on your body. I figured i could wear a mask in those conditions, walking around a store or in correctional facility, would be a cake walk. On noticeable plus, smells aren't as strong when you wear a mask.
