In general, here are several videos comparing gas vs. battery powered. gas vs battery chainsaw at DuckDuckGo. Here is an excellent video where EGO is compared to several battery powered.

Yes, I've seen that one. I've also seen the first one he did in that series where he included a gas chainsaw in the mix. Unfortunately, it was just a 30cc gas chainsaw, which is not hard to beat, especially if you are cutting more than just small limbs. I do think his chainsaw tests were fairly well laid out. It would be nice to hear a bit more about how he attempted to assured that the chains were equally well sharpened.

I've watched an awful lot of head-to-head chainsaw comparison videos, including quite a few battery vs gas. Many of them are a waste of time: either just comparing features (I can read the descriptions on the website for that. I don't need a YouTube video to read it for me). The few that show them cutting are often really more of a comparison of how well the chain is sharpened on each saw - I can see the difference even in a video from the chips that are coming out. There are few good head-to-head comparisons where they do a series of timed cuts, each with a freshly sharpened chain.

At first, I was skeptical about any battery powered saw. But after I saw the amazing performance of my EGO self propelled mower, and watching some videos of their saws in action; I decided I'd nothing to lose because I could return it. It wasn't long after receiving my 16" model, I listed my Stihl 290 for sale.

I used to hate using a chainsaw. Pulling ropes, twisting my back, noise, smell, mixing fuel, is why.
When my 16" needed to go in for warranty work, I discovered EGO came out with the 18", a very different animal. It's a very good saw, but I do most work with the 16".

Now I don't mind the task of cutting firewood because none of the above apply. Still, I'd rather let someone else do it, but I'm very cost conscious, and prefer to be in charge of what I buy: log loads of hardwood.

I've been so impressed with battery saws, I purchased a Ryobi pole saw, (works great), and a Milwaukee, Hatchet, pruning saw, (one of my favorite tools)
The key to owning and operating any saw is proper maintenance.
