Sorry if this has been covered but.....Is anyone using chains on their mid size boomers with R4 tires? I am wondering if there is enough clearance. Also for those of you that have gone without chains during the winter, has the traction been acceptable with R4s? I know ballast will greatly effect traction. Right now I have the 757 backhoe on the back but for the winter I am not sure I want to leave it on. I have the wheel weights which adds about 300# and most likely will get a rear blade. Any opinions on this for the coming winter? Thanks!

I have a 29D with loaded R4s, loader and Woods 7500 backhoe that I used last winter. Worked great - until we got a 30 inch storm with a little ice underneath. Not a good time. I then got a set of ladder chains and ice is no longer is a problem. Works for me...
