Wow! That explains it! All the plastic on the 250 should have been your first clue -- the 260 is a pro saw, and has a metal case.
I thought I had seen reference to both a pro model and a standard version of the 260. But you're right, it should have been obvious.

I think at one time Stihl did make a pro and nonpro 260. The nonpro 260 was dropped and now the 260 pro has been replaced by the 261. I have a 260 pro and it is a lite weight workhorse.
