1. Cold engine
2. Original equipment plugs
3. Dialectic grease on boots
4. Torque right
5. No antiseize
6. Be glad, very glad you're not doing this on a say, '02

I'm confused about antiseize since some say yes and some say no.

I guess it's up to you.. Some say they use it some don't. I use anti seize on all my spark plug installs

Some older anti-seize products contain Lead. Not sure how common this is now.

The thinking with the older products was if somebody slathered too much on the plug, you could contaminate the cat.

I'd sooner risk changing a cat, than deal with a galled plug, so I use a little dab - I just don't go crazy with how much I put on.

Rgds, D.

I changed my 2005 Tundra 4.7 v8 at 100000. They looked very good. I would go to 125000 next time. It was the easiest v8 I ever did. I did use anti seize on the threads.

BTW IIRC at 90-100K you are also due a timing belt change on that engine if you haven't already changed it. It is an 'interference' type engine so not one you want to break a timing belt on.

Already changed the timing belt. Also did the water pump and put on new idler and tensioner. I for sure didn't want to break that belt.

Ok, on the anti-seize, do some research on Tundra forums, etc. You'll learn what people who have Tundras are saying. And, follow Toyota's specifications about anti-seize, torque, etc.

I did search and search thoroughly. I can find just as many no on anti-seize as I can yes. NGK say no but others have said they used to say yes. People tat I consider smart--some say yes and some say no. There was a mention,, however that NGK plugs already have a coating on the threads so none is needed and that is what I'm going with. No anti-seize for me.

Torque is equally confusing and I can find no Toyota information that gives the specs. On poster on the Tundra site mentioned 13 ft lbs and that sounds about right so that's the number I'm going with. I can feel if it feels right so should be OK.
