So the overweight, port injected Fords are cutting edge?

This comparison was against the direct injected ecoboost which it ranked 3rd. They obviously didn't weigh actual towing performance or payload performance very high for their decision. The heavy Ford and Ram both beat the Chevy/GMC up in those categories. That is why I want to see their criteria and how they weighted each area.

I will concede that EcoBoost out tows the 5.3.

The Ram will also, just not if you plan to haul anything in the truck.

I wouldn't put any stock in a Consumer Reports test either way.

It gets real tiring all the GM and Ram bashing on here for lagging behind Ford. If the GM trucks weighed what the Ford did or had old engines in them we'd never hear the end of it.

Having worked at a Ford dealer and seeing and working on what I did I could never own one. The way they treated customers was terrible. Was never impressed with the quality either.

I will say that from the late '80's til '97 they built the best truck that didn't have a Cummins.

Weight-GM. Power-GM. Fuel economy-GM. Handling-GM. Warranty-GM. Comfort-GM. Corrosion resistance-GM. Assistance after warranty-GM.

Take off the Ford colored glasses. I don't have a dog in the fight, but F-series trucks aren't the leader in everything.

Guess the Cummins engines are way behind too because they don't use HEUI, twin turbos, aluminum heads or CP4 pumps.
