Weight-GM. Power-GM. Fuel economy-GM. Handling-GM. Warranty-GM. Comfort-GM. Corrosion resistance-GM. Assistance after warranty-GM.
Take off the Ford colored glasses. I don't have a dog in the fight, but F-series trucks aren't the leader in everything.
Guess the Cummins engines are way behind too because they don't use HEUI, twin turbos, aluminum heads or CP4 pumps.
I think a lot of that is your personal opinion. I disagree with corrosion resistance, comfort, asistance after warranty. The Ford has the best brakes of any 1/2 ton. The GM out powers the Ford by a small amount. I would like to see some real world numbers on the fuel economy of the GM. A GM truck is like 300lbs lighter than a Ford. The GM does lead in oil consumption.
Seriously look under a Ford and GM that are 5-8 yrs old and have 100k on them. Now try to separate a ball joint, exhaust fitting, remove y-pipe bolts, remove control arm bolts... The Ford nearly always has more rust.
Until the EcoBoost or 6.2 came out the GM trucks out powered the Fords since '07 with the 6.2 and earlier with the 6.0.
Yes the GM is lighter than the Ford because they shed weight. Must be because they are 2 generations behind Ford.
Ford leads in blowing plugs out. Head gaskets leaking. How's about Diesel engine failures? Or the 4.0 SOHC.
They've all made junk and good.
I guess you have not replaced a brake line on a 5 years old GM. How about the brake rotors rusting up between the fins on a GM. GM leads in instrument clustet failures, busted flex plates, holes in the transfer case, electrical problems, bearing hub assembly failures just to name a few.
They are all junk right now.
It is the best junk any of them have ever made.
