I agree that presently Chinese buyers & owners can get info from the "other" and also "grey market" sections.
Even though the vast majority of users here are "colored" brand buyers, I still think a separate section for Chinese (and possibly Indian or other countries, which may start showing up in more numbers soon) would be helpful to those owners.
For sure, reliable info on Grey and Chinese is hard to find, and having it collected under a quick-find heading would make sense to me.
Muhammad, since we're talking about other forums, I think you'd get alot of use out of a vintage tractor forum!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif There are a lot of members of TBN who have them! Posts about them are showing up in various other forums, and if they had their own forum, I'll bet it would be active. In fact, if you create it, I'll probably keep it active myself!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
Thanks,
You obviously learned to read Japanese, so why not Chinese?
What's the risk of adding the forum? If no one replys, remove it, if you don't want to read it don't. It would be interesting to read the trials and success' of these tractor owners, afterall, isn't this forum about compact tractors in general?
Great suggestion! I think within a month or two we might do some restructuring of the forums to plan for the growth and expansion of other major topics, such as vintage tractors, ag tractors, heavy equipment and construction, and lawn and garden equipment. I think the two to come first, though, will be the vintage tractor forum, and the ag tractor forum.
No problem - I earned it. I always get into trouble when I don't throw in lots of /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif, /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif, and /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.
If articulated compacts gain some market share, we'll consider it, but right now there just aren't enough of them out there to demand a forum for them. They can be discussed in 'other brands' for now. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
Well, I voted against it simply because I like to read all the messages and there are so many different forums, and my computer and phone lines are so slow, that it's becoming almost impossible to find time to do so, and I figured an additional separate forum would just mean changing screens even more often than I have to do now. But of course, I hope the Chinese tractor owners do participate; I'd like to learn more if I can find the time./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
Good point Bird. If/when I get a chance to do TBN on a high speed connection it might be fine. However, since most of the time I'm going at 24K (or less /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif), I would vote for more/better navigation options.
Here's a couple that I just thought of:
1. Perhaps a way to suppress graphics within the forum unless we want to see them?
2. Sub-forum home lists (Like just Kubota, or just NH, etc). IOW - Something between a topic and the whole forum home.
I, too, would like to be able to suppress in-line photos. Since I don't have nearly as much time to read messages as I used to (and there are a lot more of them than there used to be), I like to scan the threads briefly. This is impossible when there are in-line photos, especially when I'm connected via a slow line. So, what I usuallly end up doing then is kill the page before it finishes downloading and skip it.
You have touched on a subject I've been curious about for some time now. In fact, I've gone ahead and started another thread titled "Attachments vs Inline Picts?".
Should be interesting to see what folks are thinkin'.
I voted for it. I've done web searches and info on these tractors is difficult to find. I'd be interested in seeing what some of these owners have found out.
It seems to me that the major problem with navigation is having to continually reload information that could be displayed statically. Why not use frames? Internet Explorer, Navigator and AOL (the big 3) have suppored frames for years now.
put the standard logo and links in a frame at the top, and all the forums in frame on the left. Then, picking a different forum would load a 3rd main frame with the messages available.
EX:
|--------------------------------------------|
| Standard Logo and Links |
|--------------------------------------------|
|Forum A | Forum A - Message 1 |
|Forum B | Forum A - Message 2 |
|Forum C | Forum A - Message 3 |
|--------------------------------------------|
(Hope this looks ok when its viewed later!)
This would save reloading alot of info, only the messages themselves would be loaded when a message is selected, or another forum is chosen.
We won't be using frames, but we will probably be looking at some options to simplify the navigation of the forums in general, if one reads most forums.
