Circular paver driveway

Don, I think I would put in a parking area at the front of the drive. I wouldn't want people driving on it, It's to "purdy":D:laughing:

There will be a cement parking area at the entrance ramps to the circle of pavers. I would make the entrance ramps pavers also but Acme Brick closed 8 plants that make the pavers that I am using and they have no more and are making no more. It will be very close if I can finish the circle - It might be a "C" instead of an "O".

Paver Ron kept up the pace and kept me going till we finish laying section 4. Tomorrow we tamp the pavers smooth, recheck the spaces, and pour/sweep in the polymer sand. This is going to be a new record if we can finish tomorrow - a section laid and set in 3 days!

Here is a picture of section 4 with drain, but before tamping and polymer sand. It contains about 1200 pavers.

Do you know if any of the brick dealers have any of them in inventory? Maybe Acme could help you locate some dealers that may have ordered them. If nothing else it may help you to at least finish the main section if you run short.

Your doing an amazing job. I wish I could do something like that here but the winter and the frosts would just create a lifetime of added maintenance. About the best I could do is colored concrete with stamped designs to add character.

That would be a solution if the polymer sand was less expensive than cement and I would not be almost at the maximum spacing now.
After section 5, I will get an accurate count and decide where to put the last 40' of outside curbing to cut the entrance ramp off the paver area. Hopefully the "Q" shape of the drive will be all pavers except for the slash at the bottom of the "Q". Preliminary estimates indicate about 400 pavers short with a margin of error + - 400.

If I am short I'll just have extend the entrance ramp to the inner curbing (instead of the outer curbing) saving about 500 pavers.

Robert I called Acme today they said the 10,000 pavers I bought from them 3 years ago were the last of the inventory of those pavers from all their different locations. With the economy the way it was they shut down 8 plants. They have no more and cannot make anymore.

Don, You can design a nice entry surface where your out of brick, assuming you can end the to sides in an even fashion. maybe a "Black" with white design and your name in white set in the center of the approach. Or your family crest, shape of Texas or what ever. Italian marble!:D:thumbsup:

I do like the Italian marble ideal but I'd have to put my tractor in 4wd to get any traction.:D

Ron was giving me some ideas on where to put the final curbing. It can be installed in a even fashion in several places and a different type of material or design could be laid or poured in the shortage area.

With the thought of a mosaic design on the entrance to the circle this project is taking on a new creative twist.

I just need to come up with some type of design. I'll take a picture of the area of concern, so you can see the shape we have to work with and post it later. If I go with mosaics, I'm thinking more in the lines of nature (animals, trees) or farming (tractor), the theme of this rural Texas area, or a large Texas design.

Another option would be cement in the middle with a sidewalk wide boarder of pavers, on the last outside parts of the Q that nicely tie everything together.

Thank you for your ideas.
