CK30HST Wiring Disconnected

There is no real downside to using the grease. It's just messy if you have to institute a repair. In fact, after seeing this, I stopped today and bought two tubes of it and plan to take some time to fill every connector that I can find. My tractor stays dry, But even in this case, over time, corrosion will occur.

An honest question.
Why does it only happen on some machines?
We have sold ALOT of CK series machines.
They are all wired the same.
Out of all of these we have had this happen one time.

I wanted to congratulate Jeff on getting this diagnosed and fixed. Also, you did a great job of documenting the process. Keep all that stuff; if there ever is a more serious electrical problem with your tractor related to corrosion you may be able to prove it was a pre-existing condition even after the warrantee has expired. Its worth a try, anyway.

Thanks Bob. It was hard for me to cut wires on my brand new tractor, but the lights now work...and they are actually very bright. I borrowed a friend's old Brush Hog on Saturday and ended up taking it back to his house after dark. I was really suprised how well the lights worked. Now I am going to add a couple lights for the back and I will be all set.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff (BTI) I would guess it's an assembly issue if it is hit and miss. The other possibility it that the process for manufacturing the components used in the connector is not in control. The last and what I would hope is the least likely is the rating for plug doesn't match up with the environment it's exposed to. A connector in the location of this one should be rated at IP66/67 or higher. They're expensive even when buying quantities OEM's purchase.

I am surprised they aren't filled with dielectric.

Here we are 11 1/2 years later and this thread saved the day for me. I've been fiddling around off and on for years trying to figure out why my headlights quit working. I never really needed them but it still bugged me. Yep, it was that **** little pin in that connector that had corroded. I just bypassed it with a wire and they work fine now. Thanks a bunch, folks.
