Thanks for the replies.

First off...What is a Salamander.?? I assume some sort of heater.?? Fill me in. I'm interested. Cost.??

The tractor and the blower live inside an un-heated garage. I move the tractor and blower outside and let the engine warm and the snowblower cool.

The important parts that I want free from snow and ice are the impellar area and the chain train. I mean, it is not a huge deal. I just refuse to put it away wet.

Going to look for a heater with a blower.

When the garage gets a wet floor I try to sweep it dry. Usually works.:D

Every now and then you can find a nice deal on propane fired salamanders also. I picked one up at a local Big Lots for around $50. You can either use a gas grill tank or purchase a larger tank for it.

Oh, OK....Ya, that's exactly what I am going to buy. How many btu's will melt off a snowblower in 15 or 20 minutes.?? That would be mint.!! 50,000 btu's....100,000 btu's..??

I have used a commercial heat gun on my three point hitch, rear blade and bucket at times. I do use a flat blade shovel sometimes. I was wondering about the heavy plastic chipper rams what are your thought about one of them for the chute? I do use cat litter or oil dry around the tractor to soak up the mess. Scaper

Before I start the tractor, I check the snowblower to make sure nothing is frozen in place,. After I am finished snowblowing, I will turn off the tractor outside, and clean most all of the snow and ice off of it with a long handled bristol brush, like a janitor would use,. I then park the tractor and turn it off in my unheated garage and lower the snowblower on 2x6 boards placed under the shoes,. I will then take a towel and wipe away any water that will freeze if left in place,. Hope that these little tip will help,. KC :D :D :D

salamander, torpedo, bullet. Many different names for the same thing.
Not sure what your price range is, but I've seen these as low at $50.00. Your options for fuel are diesel, kerosene and propane. Some of these even have a small fan to help move the air. If not get a $15 fan and place it on low speed behind the heater. I'd say any of these would melt the snow off your blower in 15 minutes or less. If you get a big one you could also use it to heat the garage to allow you to work in it, or pre-heat the tractor before starting.

Edit.
How about this.

What about carbon monoxide fumes in an enclosed garage using a salamander type heater?

I use a flat metal ice chipper, too. And if there is frozen slush on the bottom, a few raps with a small sledge will separate the ice from the metal due to the vibration.

No sir you do not use, you never use, nor ever use a kerosene, propane or fuel oil fired heater in an enclosed garage or garages of any size without all the doors open in any circumstance what so ever as their is no separaton of Carbon Monoxide fumes from combustion. :)

The white gas and propane radiant heaters are also a no no with doors closed in any circumstance.

Adding a box fan blowing in fresh air in front of the garage door on the floor aids in removing the Carbon monoxide and continually adds fresh air into the open garage space diluting the fumes.
