Post a picture of the boom pin in place. I might be able to solve this one.

BUM, Initially the dealer said it wasn't covered by Kubota, then all of a sudden it got welded and painted and looks 1000 percent. Is it a warranty item or not?? Double talk. How it happened: Renoir tractor at idle, went to get on, hit joystick for an instant, hear noise" KER PLUNK" and found boom lock pin on ground. Read about this happening to many others on this forum. One poster even posted pictures. It is probably a poor press, diameter's incorrect...

Glad to hear they at least got that one fixed. Know what your mean about pins falling out. Sure would be a big help to me if you put a picture up that shows what they did to correct that problem. Sounds like they did a rather good job on that at least.

Thanks

FROM DWIGHT:
1. You have a brand new L3130 with not much more than 38.5 hrs (about a month ago)
2. At first, you called it a "Renoir masterpiece", now you claim it is "underpowered" and the dealer (nor any TBN members) seem to believe you.
3. Your main complaint is about the ground speed when traveling up a slight incline while steering hard to one side, while you press the HST pedal all the way to the floor, and it smokes some, too into your cab.
4. You had it dyno checked for power and came back satisfactory,
5. Now you think your Renoir masterpiece should be recalled because of a boom pin on your backhoe, but you arent sure if your backhoe is a BH4690 or a BH90,
6. You purchased the lowest powered Grand L series tractor but are using the heaviest implements or features that fits on it, i.e. BH 90 (or BH 4690) backhoe, LA 723 FEL AND wheel ballast AND a Curtis cab, too. One poster estimated maybe as much as 5000# added weight onto your underpowered 3300# tractor.
7. Not one TBN poster has experienced anything similar to what you describe,
8. You claim “trust was misplaced at the dealership”. Your dealer and “all the Kubota reps are in denial and remind you of the Dan Rather/Bush episode…” – I guess that means you were deceived by your dealer. Not only are the TBN posters not believing you, the kubota dealer is against you, too, right?
9. Many TBN posters have tried to help you, me included, to suggest you sell it and move on with life since you went from exhilaration to despair in a month or two. We have offered sympathy and help. What we got in return was not dialog but personal attacks.
10. Ramon49, you have defeated the seat safety switch, yet you claim there are quality control issues with his tractor and it has “poor design”. You said you were an engineer in one post. You of all persons should NOT be defeating designed engineering safety features!!!
11. You have purchased other tractors in the past (kubotas mind you), but still the dealer misplaced your trust on this one, right?

I have to agree with RaT here. Either this tractor has some issues or maybe it’s you.

Response from RAMON:

1.) 40.2 hours now
2.) Wrong! 38%TBN members agree with some of my issues.
3.) Wrong! if I put to floor it would DIE!!!!!
4.) correct
5.) RECALLED for misleading and dangerous BOOM pin and being underpowered. I do apologize for posting BH 90 I thought it was an Acronymn for my 4690b backhoe!
6.) Never posted Ballast R4's, If ballasted I'd have to pull it with my truck.
7.) Correct! not one has had "all" of my issues on one tractor, but certainly you read about all of my issues POPPING up with different posters.
8.) WRONG! no one is aainst me, stop trying to paint a biased picture. Stay focused to the issues or stop responding, please. I'm trying to get to the ROOT cause.
9.) If you feel you've been attacked, I'm sorry you feel that way. What post did I attack you in??? Never meant to ruffle your feathers and YES! there are some real good responses and to those who have patience, I thank you.
10.) The Safety seat switch is a Kubota thing and not mandated by anyone, doesn't mean it's any good! My opinion.
11.) I placed trust in my dealer, Hindsight tells me the dealer may not have spent enough time trying to get to my needs. In 1998 he sold me a BX7300,returned in 2 weeks, grossly wrong application. The B2400 next, it fit the bill at the time. Currently, wanted higher HP, dealer recommended 7800 I said no, "I want more Power". He recommended the Underpowered 3130. The rest has been posted. I know your going to blame me for whatever! When you make statements that it's me your getting off TOPIC...FOCUS

Ramon....4,200 feet above sea level! This needs to be addressed. What altitude is your dealer at? Find a Kubota dealer at a higher elevation and ask them how they adjust for the lack of oxygen. Like Rat said earlier, (in other words) a couple of thousand feet makes a big difference.

Call or email these guys and ask them about possible elevation related issues/setups. Also, it is highly likely that people on TBN will be able to assist if you ask for help in a seperate post where you specify possible altitude adjustments.

BUG, Yes real good job. PIX tomorrow if I have time. They did the repair by lowering the boom and welding in the back of pin and welding in the front of the pin. The dealer does do good work.

Ramon, like you say, you're catching it from all sides. Some of the posters here are showing little mercy. Normally I'd be right in there with 'em, but not in this case. I went through the same thing with a new walleye boat I bought in 2003.

It had a 40hp outboard and a good price, but the hull was rated for 90hp. I thought I'm just fishing, not towing skiers, 40hp should be fine. But 40hp barely got the boat on plane. It did no good to blame the dealer for selling an obviously underpowered boat to a newbie.

Like Henro said, a mistake was made and I had to eat it; the original dealer was no help at all. Luckily there was still plenty of warranty on the engine (bought the extended warranty) so I got a good trade toward a new 90hp engine at another dealer. It didn't come out badly after all, mostly because the second dealer knew he could easily resell the engine with warranty still on it.

I've been in your shoes, Ramon. Didn't like it one bit. Best thing to do is bite the bullet and move quickly...while there's still warranty on the tractor and before this sours you on the whole tractor experience. Just make sure your next choice has plenty of power and then some.

FWIW

BOB, I had a 17' tri-hull with a 250hp gas /jacuzzi jet drive it wasn't underpowered. There will always be the "good and the bad" posters usually hidden agenda's are at work.

I am working on posting only positives about my 3130. Today, it did real well crushing pine tree limbs with the loader.
