"la723, bh90,curtis sno blade, box. After learning how to use the HST , different from b2400, has plenty of power. I am really impressed with root ripping capability. The Curtis cab and heater makes for a pleasant day when it's 12 degrees.
Rick Jay, Clearly I thought at less than 25 hours it could be operator, so I used it some more and had a heck of a time (see other posts). This 3130 HST is different, single pedal vs 2 pedal on the B2400. So, I naturally gave it more time. I'm not making this up.......

Want to sell the hoe? I am in the market for one for my 4330. I am truly sorry that this happened to you whatever it is. It really looks like you need something else and I"ll bet it won't be a Kubato. Good Luck in whatever you choose to do, and thanks for letting us know of your experience with this setup. Teddy

Unless where Ramone lives is at a higher altitude (2000' +). In that case a turbo "normalizer" will re-establish a sea-level HP rating without causing damage to the Motor. This may also be the reason for the smoking, high altitude=less air=excessive fuel/smoke=reduced power.

Entering into the real world now...I see me going back to my Ford dealer and trying to get him to take back a truck I bought, after I used it a while...expecting him to take it back at almost no cost to me ...becaues it did not perform like something I used to own...yea, right...
We need to get real here. Ramon49's tractor is a used tractor. A hit has to be taken by someone who bought the wrong item, no different than if it were a car or truck. Seems to me that moving up to a NEW (I assume) 3830 for about $4,000 would be reasonable, all things considered.
Suffer or pay, Ramond49. That's life. Sounds harsh, but that is the way life is. You bought it, you either do what is necessary to correct the mistake, or you live with it.
Now if the dealer gave you a 100% satisfaction or your money back guarantee that would be different story...looks like he did not...sounds like his offer to let you move up to a 3830 for $4,200 may be pretty reasonable.

1. You have a brand new L3130 with not much more than 38.5 hrs (about a month ago)
2. At first, you called it a "Renoir masterpiece", now you claim it is "underpowered" and the dealer (nor any TBN members) seem to believe you.
3. Your main complaint is about the ground speed when traveling up a slight incline while steering hard to one side, while you press the HST pedal all the way to the floor, and it smokes some, too into your cab.
4. You had it dyno checked for power and came back satisfactory,
5. Now you think your Renoir masterpiece should be recalled because of a boom pin on your backhoe, but you arent sure if your backhoe is a BH4690 or a BH90,
6. You purchased the lowest powered Grand L series tractor but are using the heaviest implements or features that fits on it, i.e. BH 90 (or BH 4690) backhoe, LA 723 FEL AND wheel ballast AND a Curtis cab, too. One poster estimated maybe as much as 5000# added weight onto your underpowered 3300# tractor.

8. You claim “trust was misplaced at the dealership”. Your dealer and “all the Kubota reps are in denial and remind you of the Dan Rather/Bush episode…” – I guess that means you were deceived by your dealer. Not only are the TBN posters not believing you, the kubota dealer is against you, too, right?
9. Many TBN posters have tried to help you, me included, to suggest you sell it and move on with life since you went from exhilaration to despair in a month or two. We have offered sympathy and help. What we got in return was not dialog but personal attacks.
10. Ramon49, you have defeated the seat safety switch, yet you claim there are quality control issues with his tractor and it has “poor design”. You said you were an engineer in one post. You of all persons should NOT be defeating designed engineering safety features!!!
11. You have purchased other tractors in the past (kubotas mind you), but still the dealer misplaced your trust on this one, right?

Hi Ramon,
It seems that the tractor market is somewhat forgiving when you put a newer tractor up for sale. You could test the water and see what you could get for it.
I haven't read all the posts involved with your 3130, but I would change the fuel filter if you haven't done so already just to see if it would make a difference.
I have an L3130 GST. My main problem is I'm not used to the thing yet and I miss my old 140 Farmall, but it gets better every time I operate it. Will I sell mine later and try something else ... maybe, but for now I'm going to keep it.
You being a Quality Assurance man I'm sure you can find out what's ailing the machine. If its getting air, good clean fuel and the brakes aren't locked and it's not in too high of a gear, it should run alot better than its doing now. Start with the obvious stuff and see what happens.

Is your dealer's dyno at 4200? Thats high enough to knock a bunch of power out of your sails right there.

Dwight, I wish I could write like you! Are you a lawyer? You really have expressed the issue quite well. I reread my posts and finally erased them. I did not want to come off as being a obnoxious jackbum but Ramon seems to have this partial and selective attention span. He reads and replies to what seems to be agreeable to him and simply dismisses the others. I must have missed the post where he had stated that he ballasted the tires. That would be a great place to start, drain them. Actually, I still suggest he either sell it or find the salesman who put the gun to his head and have a talk with him about a serious trade. Henro also makes a great point. Take the loss and throw the loader, backhoe and anything else on a L3830 or better yet, leave the loader on and get a L4330, L4630 or L5030 and put the hoe on it. Whatever he does, he needs to learn how to deal with problems and then get happy.
With our newly discovered fact that he has an altitude of 4200' on a non turbo diesel, we may be getting to the bottom of some of his issues, I wonder if that matters to him? My non turbo Ford F250 smokes at about 4000' going up to Tahoe, at 9500 it takes a serious dump. I could not pull my shadow at that altitude. Again, very well done post.
PS this post reminds a bit of the post a couple years back where the guy bent his backhoe, blamed it all on Kubota. As we slowly pulled the information out of him, he had welded a thumb on the hoe. He was using the swing to help remove a stump as I recall. Who knows if he was slamming it against it. At any rate, he was quite mad and telling everyone how Kubota will not honor their warranty, don't buy Kubota. Only when pressed for information did it come out.
