Not to rub it in, but this morning I went to work and wandered thru the roaster deck. Grabbed a small handful of Kona, another of Yemen Mocha, and a third of Sulawesi beans fresh out of the roaster, blended them, ground them, and brewed up a pot. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Thanks Peter for the "lab study"... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

It must be my tastebuds... because last year my sister brought back some Kona from Hawaii and it tasted very bitter to me...

I told a friend/coffee fanatic about my experience with "Kona" and he said I should have my "head examined".../w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

... I told him..."they probably wouldn't find anything..." /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Peter

I notice that you like your coffee fresh out of the roaster... I have read that it needs to rest for 12 to 72 hours to flash off some CO2 before you get the best taste. Is this right or just bunk?

Well, here's my coffee update. Bear in mind, IF I had some tractoring to do I wouldn't be nearly so into this thread. For those details see my I Miss My Tractor thread.

It's been about two weeks (maybe three) and I'm really into it. 3-5 cups in the morning but still doing the Diet-Dew in the afternoon (want something cold then). Had an Espresso at lunch the other day and it was wonderful.

Now here's the best part, and the TBN tie-in... I have had the good fortune to try some of Pete's Green Mountain Coffee Roasters coffee and I'm fully hooked. Not sure I can go back to Folgers/Maxwell House.

I suppose my next logical step is to invest in a grinder and a better coffee maker for home. I'll drive my wife nuts with the research. Any recommendations? Is there a PTO grinder available?

Hey, I'll have a full pot on tomorrow morning for anyone who wants to stop by and watch my tractor sit there /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

You didn't mention anything about donuts /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif for coffee and donuts are a get way to start the day..except for one other way. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well my old enamel coffee pot for the fire pit finally broke down. Went out and got me a stainless steel percualtor (?) for the fire pit. Been using it in the house though now and love the percualting noise/smell. Boy had some of that fancy high test coffee Pete put's out up there on the mountain. Boy that stuff will really get your motor running!!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif The guy I was working with should of give it to me before we did trail maintainance/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Of course I work cheap just two cups of coffee for about 4 hours work.
Take care

I know how you feel about putting the old coffee pot to rest, for I had to do the same w/ my copper coffee pot. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
I tried some of Pete's coffee at work..Vermont Blend..and I must admit it was pretty darn good.

Thats pretty cheap labor..2cups in 4 hours. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Looks like we got a mix bag of nasty weather coming our way tomorrow afternoon /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif So I better scoot around and get things done, also stock up on some MH. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Be extra careful when out and about.
