I like and know gear drive stuff... this is my first hst I have owned.

It'll grow on you over time... very handy in a small machine. Couple of added thoughts, considering. First, keep the engine revved up. Not much hydraulic flow until you get it above about 1/2 throttle. Will happily run wide open all day although 2/3 throttle seems to work well for most things. Second, that foot pedal is a bit counterintuitive. While you use it like the gas pedal in your car, it really controls the "gear ratio" of the HST, going from neutral to high gear. So when the engine is working hard, you back off the pedal rather than flooring it as you would in a car. That's like dropping into a lower gear.

Don't get me wrong.... I do like the hydro trans. I've put about 20 plus hours on this machine this summer mowing the current owner's yard. I fill the fuel tank, hit the deck zerks with a grease gun every other mowing, fire it up and let it idle a few minutes, mid throttle for few more, then wide open for the next 3 hours, back and forth, over and around, till it's all mowed. Couldn't ask for a better test drive.

I've just never owned one before.

I have 2 30 year old Kubotas. The B1800hst has been a mower of 5 acres for all that time. It has never let me down. Second deck in that time due to rough terrain, but I just change oils and filters and it goes. You have not made a mistake buying a Kubotas.

Great deal. My BX is 12 years old and only 1350 hrs. Yes I do forget it is not a D9 at times. No issues other than routine maintenance (belt, hyd hose, a pivot seal). I expect it will be part of my estate 30+ years from now (hopefully).

Brought it home today. Loaded it up after swapping the front weights and bracket to the new BX2670, and then using the new one to mow with... had 0.6 hours on it when I got started!

What would the curb weight on the bx1800 be? I have found the mower deck info listed on tractor data, but no listed curb weights for the tractor itself.

I'm looking for a replacement weight for the front also... losing the 150lb weights and bracket to the new mower is likely to change the front traction dramatically. I'll find out shortly when I go try it on our yard!

It's going to be similar to the other BX models... about 1,500-1,700 lbs for the tractor itself. Mower deck would add another 250 or so. Fluid in the tires would add 150-200.

Amazing where this little tractor will climb. Quite a few banks that had to be weedeatered before can now be done with the Kubota.

I'm gonna have to hide the key, the oldest boy (14 yr old) thinks it's his to take on his mowing jobs... momma but the brakes on that quickly.

Gonna be a few bare spots in the yard where the 54" deck makes clearance as needed, the old mower we've used is only 42", and our yard is all hills and uneven ups and downs. I've been trying to talk the wife into re-shaping parts of the yard... this might convince her.

Overall... I knew it was a very capible machine due to having already used it all summer... but it sure is nice to know it will go some of the places I couldn't get before.

Maybe someone can help me trouble shoot the fuel cutoff solinoid. Is it controlled by a timer on at key off? The previous owner had a cord to pull the fuel cut off lever at the injection pump, but I want it to work properly with the key.
