I have read numerous times that some feel that the price increase isn't worth the extra 3 hp. My question is what can a 2920 do or use that the 2620 cannot? Can it pull a 5ft. RC instead of a 4ft? I believe they weigh the same and I'm sure that plays a role but as a new looker into the tractor market I'm not sure how?

The only real difference would be the PTO horsepower for things like a wood chipper etc (more is better). If you don't plan on using any PTO powered devices than get the less expensive model. I doubt you could tell the difference between the two for any other use.

I am a 2620 owner. I looked heavily into both the 2620 and the 2920. I was trading a N.H. scut (25 horse) so I wasnt sure if it was wise at the time to trade for a bigger tractor and only gain 1 hp. So I was heavily leaning towards the 2920. The 2 tractors are identical as far as weight, FEL capablities, 3pt impliment capabilites. As amigauser mentioned the only 2 differences are the 3 horse power (not really any gain IMHO) from 26 to 29 and the pto horsepower. Which as mentioned should be your only deciding factor if contimplating these 2 models. If your not going to run any pto implements save the money and go w/ the 2620.

The only pto implement I plan on using is a PHD so this is why I went w/ the 2620 and couldnt be happier! Good Luck!

The only diff. in the 2620 to the 2920 is the engines with 3 HP diff. The statements about whether a tractor can handle an cetain size implement is somewhat arbitrary and definetly up to opinion, mostly your opinion. Granted there are limits, but the lines are not hard, what is really meant by "handle". So here is some food for thought. I moved up from a 17HP B7200 to a 26HP B2620, that is a 53% increase in HP. However, I have run all the same implements on both tractors. 4' Brush cutter(which is what the owners manual lists for the 2620/2920), 9" PHD, 60"MMM, 6' Blade, 6' Landscape rake. The B7200 is listed as 1356 lbs and the B2620/2920 as 1554 lbs. Obviously the 2620 has the power advantage, but I was never dissappointed in the 7200, it "handled" everything just fine. I do not connect the cenert link when I run the BC, with no extra front end weight it really doesn't work. I also think it mows better over uneven ground. I tried letting my feild grow up and mow it with the brush cutter and was very dissappointed in how it mowed. The grass would lay down where the tires ran over it and not get mowed and stood back up the next day. There are several posts on here about this. However I have a freind (BX22) that had the same expeirence and now we both mow our fields with the 60"MMM and have better results. You can't let it grow as tall, but it mows it down fine. Which may be better for your HOA and neighbors that you don't let it grow as tall between mowings. From the sounds of your land you have alot of mowing to do 6A? Wow. I am wondering if you have considered a seperate pull behind mower that you can offset to the side and make 2 passes at once or double your width. I am sure you could pull a 5' Brush cutter with either 2620 or 2920, maybe not lift it without front end weight. When it comes to "handling" it comes down to how tall you let the grass grow, how wet the grass is, how dense the grass is, how fast you want to mow it and how many times you have to mow over it. So as I mentioned the "handling it" is whether you are satisfied with its performance.

Great info and thanks.:)

I was hoping to be able to pull a 5ft. brush cutter and as I've read here a light duty model should be okay since I won't have my grass very tall. Not required to keep all 7 acres manicured, I could keep "woods" in the back so we'll see. One funny thing, I was out there Sunday cutting a few trees down and the neighbor came over and asked me if I knew where the property line was. I said of course (theres a stake with a big pink ribbon). He says, no, no, there's another stake. Come to find out I have what looks like another acre and half of mostly hardwods. Still 7 acres but boy that property all the sudden looks a lot bigger.

I probably would already pulled the trigger on a new tractor but also have to get a trailer to haul it back and forth.

thanks again

The trailer issue is something that I have been struggling with too. I don't have the room to store one, and I would want a double axle trailer to haul my B2620. U-haul rents trailers, and they're fairly cheap. I'll just rent one the next time I need it. I would not be using it that often, maybe once or twice a year, so renting making more sense for me.

I am in the throws of an upgrade from a BX22 to a 2920 (or 2620).

Can someone tell me why Kubota is marketing a B2920 if the return on the additional 3 HP is negligible?....

There are applications where you might want all the pto hp you could get in a tractor this size, like trying to run a 6" chipper in tough wood, or perhaps a 5' rotary cutter for example. I do think that most of the time you want more hp, you probably want more weight, more hydraulic flow, and a more powerful loader with a larger bucket. I am running a 4" x 6" chipper on my B2620, and it has plenty of power for that. How much cheaper is a B2920 than a B3200? That said, there is some reason to stick with the drive over mmm I would guess.

Thanks Chuck,

I fully understand the PTO benifits but would the additional 3HP & ft-lbs being generated from the engine and applied to the wheels be used for such things as skidding logs out of the woods, pulling a plow etc?

I don't think it would be much extra use there since mine will spin with loaded tires long before it runs out of power. Weight, and tire selection will matter more in those situations more than hp.
