Re: Counter point.

Hey guys, maybe you can offer me some advice. We had a problem with our system and upgraded Win95 to Win98 in hopes of a fix. We also added a HP Officejet Pro 1150C printer/copier/scanner while we were at it. Things work pretty good except the system crashes pretty regular with a message reading "DTOLE has prformed an illegal .............. and will shut down" When this comes up, you cannot close it or use the Win shutdown system, everything just locks up. The only option is to turn off the computer to reboot. When I did a search for the "DTOLE" it seems to be part of the HD printer. I don't know enough to even start to figure out a problem like this. Any thoughts for where a novice should start to look for a fix?

SYMPTOMS
When you are running Windows 95 or Windows 98, you may receive any of the following error messages:

DTOLE caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL
-or-
PROCDB caused a General Protection Fault in module Kernel32.dll

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you have installed the Hewlett-Packard PictureLink software that is included with the Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet drivers.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact Hewlett-Packard for an update for this software.

To work around this issue, move the Hppicture.lnk file from the Startup folder. This eliminates the error message at startup, but you should still obtain the updated drivers.
