I am thinking about getting the CCW permit,if I carried the pistol on me I am not sure if I would keep it loaded all of the time, the gun itself would make people think in a threataning situation, but I would hate for it to be unloaded if I really needed it.

The only thing worse than carrying an unloaded weapon is: Carrying a weapon with only one bullet, and having people referring to you as "Barney". /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm glad you feel that way. It's a peaceful, warm, relaxing feeling... like peeing in your pants on a cool morning, but it might not last long.
I won't go into ALL the stories, but I will say that I haven't been involved in them... but I do personally know people who have. Things like a family of five (husband, wife, 3 kids) shot to death because of a satanic ritualistic pact in NE TN, their minivan was stolen and they were killed after winding up on a back road 5 years ago or so.

Right here in TN, several convenience store clerks killed in a 4 year period. They were NOT armed...one of them had told a friend of mine that he felt safe up there with no gun. He was killed for 72 dollars, some beer, cigarettes, and a few candy bars. Civilized?

In nashville, where I used to live, 6 women raped in a short span of time by an illegal alien.

In 1998, a good friend of mine had just returned home from work at a grocery store. Walking into her apartment door, she was pushed through the just opening door by a man behind her, shouting threats of just do what I tell you, b---h. He didn't know several of her friends were there for a get-together in the back area. The perp saw a large male friend run out, and pointed his illegal gun at him. For some reason, it didn't go off.

I can name about 15 more instances that have caused my outlook on life, the criminal mind and their value of life to downgrade sharply. I don't feel I need to waste your time or mine by doing so.
ONE MORE, THOUGH...
Just last week in Nashville, a woman is walking down a nashville "rough street". Two illegal immigrants are driving at excessive speed, arguably drinking, who knows, and THOUGHT they hit the pedestrian. So they stop, get out of the truck, and shoot her 5 times. She dies, but not before the 8 or 9 month old fetus she's carrying dies from a gun shot also. She was PREGNANT...and they shot her. Five times. Faith in civilization?? ha.

And before you bring it up, friend...illegal immigrants are NOT even supposed to BE here, let alone be able to BUY or pack a piece. This reinforces our point here...no matter what you do, who you ban, or how many guns you take up, that thug will still have a gun, be packing a gun, and use that gun for no logical reason to take your life, your family's life, or your daughter's virtue.

Brother, my faith in society has long since faded- and I'm 29 years old.
There are a lot of GREAT people both on TBN, in my hometown, and in my circle of friends. I love all of them. You included... man... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Society? 60% good.
20% bad.
20% downright EVIL.
It's that bottom 20% that I carry a gun to protect myself against.

I will askone more question. Why did you bring up "why not strap that thing to your leg like Doc?" and "just whippin' out that hawg and joining in with the gang war"? after those subjects have already been addressed in GREAT detail? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Are you trying to bait a gun owner into losing his cool? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Won't work with me, friend. Probably won't work with many gun owners. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Keep that faith. I'll speak no more on this matter, as I feel I have given all the advice or info I can offer without my thoughts downgrading into something else.
To quote Doc/Val Kilmer..." there, now, let's be friends again."
Respectfully,
C1

"Why Ike, Does this mean were not friends ? I just dont think I could bear it if I thought we weren't friends ! " Val Killmer , Tombstone, on my second dvd, wore the first one out ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
There is only one reason for a unarmed society, Power of the government over its subjects. This is the very thing the Constitution protects us from. I am not referring singularly to the second amendment but to the Constitution in its entirety. We must all remember that the document was drafted to protect us from excessive Government, specifically our own. I can not recall who said it but I believe it was one of the framers of the Constitution;" the real beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until someone try's to revoke its power !". Most of the anti firearms debates began in earnest in the mid 70's with the landmark case of the US Vs Three Winchester 30-30 Lever action Carbines. This is the case that determined a previously convicted Felon has no right to bear arms. This gave all the others since the momentum to proceed. When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns and from my view we will truly be a lawless society at the mercy of whom ever. I do not carry but I am very glad others do. Dave

I've only skimmed over a lot of the posts so not sure if anyone has added this. I remember an old professor used to site this quote. "1935 will go down in history! For the first time a civilized country has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead in the future."
---Aldolf ******, April 1935---

As for CCp, if you have a valid need, go for it.

I know how we can settle this. "Let's have a spelling contest".

Sorry guys I couldn't resist another Tombstone quote. I will stop now before someone's head gets turned into a canoe. Oops I did it again.

My question was, "How many folks are as responsible as you?"

It's not up to you or anyone else to decide who is responsible or not. By the likes of those you know who play with a gun in their pocket until it discharges, I'd say you might not be that good a judge. I dislike the tactic of subversion that I sense is occuring here. "You guys are great, but guns should be banned because I know a stupid guy." Well, the stupid guys Buick is as dangerous as his gun.
