I have a L3010 and I have been doing a lot of bush hogging this spring. I have also been doing a lot of spinning /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I have a lot of steep hills and we have had a lot of rain here in middle TN, hence the grass is growing overtime. I have been thinking about offering to swap a like new set of R4's for some AG's. I have 180 hours on these but most of the time has been mowing. The rears are loaded with washer fluid and I don't have a trailer so I can't transport. I do some loader work but I do not see a problem using R1's for that seeing how many people do. Just throwing this out to see if it is worth exploring.

This could work. I have a set of R1's with 28 hrs on them and was considering R4s. What size are your tires? My rears are also filled with antifreeze, trucking won't be that much.

Hello Ross,

I will have to look at the sidewalls tomorrow. I know the rears are Firestones and the fronts are Titans. I believe they are 420/70 24's ??? and the fronts are 16" I think. Anyways they are the normal size for a L3010 or L3410. I will go look tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

R-1s will out grip and out pull R-4s all day long. R-4s are best if driven on hard surfaces like asphalt or cement more than not. I find alot of people here go for R-4s initially( for the looks I guess) but you would be hard pressed to find a farmer with R-4s on anything. R-1s are fine on pavement as long as they don't live there. R-4s are for roadgraders and commercial backhoes and such. You will be much happier will R-1s.

When I originally bought the tractor I was also finish mowing a lot of areas. As I added trees, decks, barn, extra drive, etc. I finally had to go to a regular riding mower and sell the 72" rear finish mower. Nobody panic, I sold it to my father-in-law next door so I can always borrow it back /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Anyways, all I do now is brush cut the large fields and hillsides, move a little dirt and gravel. I would like to have more wet ground traction and maybe lower the center of gravity some. I am not sure about the height difference. As many people as I have seen on this forum who wanted r4s and have ags I figure I should be able to find someone who would like to swap.

If possible I'd like to see pics with R4's and then with the R1's. I have a 3010 with R4's now, so I'm guessing they would be the same as yours. I've considered switching, but so far the R4's have done okay for me. But I have to admit, they hold the mud, and once full of mud you are not going to make it up any hill if its slippery & wet. One other solution to this that I saw recommended in another thread was chains. Only on the front tires. Sounded like a good idea to me, but I haven't tried it yet.
