I usually lock in 20,000 gallons for the winter. This winter my supplier didn't offer contracts, nor did any other dealer in the area

Our tank was topped off with a ~100 gal at $1.33. The previous bill was $1.09 a gallon. I think it wa 99 cents before that.

$1.75 here, and that's because I own my tank. Otherwise, something over $2. Been $1.25 most of this year until recently.

The CFO called a couple other suppliers in the area. They are all happy to bring in a new 100 gal tank and test my existing lines. But they are all well over $3 a gallon. So now it's decision time.....

Option 1: Rip out the propane stove in the kitchen and buy an electric. Stove needs to be updated anyway.

Option 2: Hire a service guy to extend the propane line from my generator over to my kitchen (about 50 ft) and disconnect the house tank altogether.

Hi Don,
I actually use to put propane in my old truck all the time without any pumps from my house tank . I also fill my dad's little propane tank he uses for his Bar-B-Que with no trouble at all . The propane company set up the transfer hose for me . Works great . Yes it does take a little longer to fill without a pump, but it works .
By the way , I was quoted $1.75 gallon yesterday .

Reading this thread made me wonder why not just get a line ran from the Generator tank with shutoff valves so when this situtation comes up you can just switch to the generator tank.

Just filled our tank at $1.38 gal.

I own my own tank and ran another line to my shop, 150' I had to buy two new regulators, They said I needed a high preasure one on the tank and low pressure ones on the furnances. I just paid 1.89 a gal. in southern Illinois

I get alot of propane for our corn dryers and just use the house with it. We contracted in August for .79/gallon.
