Now that the waters have been tested, I can safely stick a toe in...

Eddie, I'm sure glad to read that you are doing OK (or better.)

Best of luck in your future endeavors (and current ones too.)

Brahmus, how come I never see you at the meetings? You know the ones that go like, "Hi, my name is Patrick and I'm a tech weenie/geek social cripple!

We need a few more voices in the acapella (acapela? take your pick Latin or Italian spelling) choir for when we sing our theme song, "I'm just a poor boy whose intentions are good, Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood!"

When I meet someone it usually goes like this. Hello, my name is Jace, I have no social filter so please don't take anything personal, I really am a nice person.

Well Eddie as you know I'm the one that just jumps right in and asks the important questions.(LOL) I read thru the thread you recommended and I must say I'm proud of you my cyber-brother. I'm 61 and have yet to figure out how women think. There is no doubt that the book title - Men are from Mars and women are from Venus - says it all. The $64,000 question is - Are women ever truly happy?. I presently have two women in my life (both divorcees) and can't figure out what they are thinking. One bought a brand new house and doesn't have a job. The other couldn't afford the house that she got in the divorce so she is renting and has issues. #1 contacted me after 14 yrs since I had seen her. #2 I friended on Facebook after seeing her pic in the local paper. Our first contact was when she called me on the phone one evening and we were on the phone till 1:30AM. Bottom line is do I need the baggage that both bring to the table when I've been doing just fine being a bachelor.

My advice is take your time and enjoy being a woman's knight in shining armor before you become their security blanket.

My apologies to the women out there. I know I come across sounding like a chauvinistic pig but I call them as I see them after all I'm a martian. LOL

PAGUY, I have been married one time. I have been married for 46+ years. I assure you we men will never actually understand women. Even when you think you have it figured out, you are deluding yourself, the understanding is an illusion.

Sure, there are a few simple facets we can all grasp, little things like the approach to a problem where we guys want to find a solution and apply it while the ladies want to discuss it.

If for some reason my wife were to be eliminated through accident or disease (divorce is pretty unlikely after 46 years) I'm pretty sure I WOULD NOT be in a hurry to find a replacement, if at all.

I have watched others rush to get married again and get it wrong more often than getting it right. Nowadays with little or no social stigma attached to living together out of wedlock, I'd counsel anyone to take their time and be dead certain. Sure, after a while a companion to share with could be quite nice but... I like to think I would make haste slowly.

PAGUY,
I am happy when I am on my $38,000 Big RED Beast.:D I get unhappy when the fuel gauge is approaching empty.:(

Who would have thought a thread on building a lake would end up discussing social skills? You guys are GREAT!!!!!!

Eddie, it is even more surprising that nothing has come up regarding magic conveyor belts preventing an airplane from taking off. Of course at Lake Maribou (I just love the sound of that) it would have to be a float plane and an opposing water current, like a heavy overflow.

Back to hogs, as I've said before, they are proven fawn killers. Take 'em out, trap 'em, cook and eat what you can and feed the buzzards the rest.

I just finished reading through this whole thread in about 3 days. It is like a novel. Just as gripping as a one, too.
Eddie, I admire you. I have great ideas but I lack much ambition and very few of my projects ever get done. (although many were started)

I am glad to see that the lake turned out VERY well. Sorry that other things didn't turn out so well. As others have said "Keep looking forward" (In the context of life. Not in operating a tractor :))

Thank you. I'm still surprised at how nice Lake Marabou looks. I was mowing around it the other day and kept thinking how lucky I am to live here.

Three days of reading must have really been something. I do wish there was a way to change the pictures so they were open all the time, like they are now, but it is what it is.

That is a Target Turtle. Turtles are all in the Target species around here.:D It looks like a Red Ear (Land) Turpin, but it is hard to say at that distance.

Eddie, Just a quick hello from another fan. This thread is one of my favorite books! Glad things are going better for you these days. No idea on the turtle, but I love to see those pics! All the best, Brian

Eddie,

They are beautiful animals, but will wreak havoc on a pond. Grandad had a couple in his pond that tunneled holes out under the bank and dammed up the spillway.

They had to go to beaver heaven.
