Those are great photos RobertBrown!
Is that loon on your post? Nice colors.
If that Papaya tree was growing around here, i'd call it a maple, but i don't know papaya grew on a tree or what it looks like.

And profitable? paying almost 10 bucks for local honey (I think its a 12 oz jar?) here in central Mass. I'm a believer that locallyproduced honey helps you with allergies:)

We get $5/ half pint pint (8oz) and $10/pint. But price fluctuates by region.

I will say I still have allergy problems, but I don't think they are as bad as they used to be.

Here's a couple of images of a snake we have living around some barn timbers and equipment stored in the field behind the house. I always run into this guy when I'm cleaning up around these piles and he (or they) hang out in the same spot, so I know where to find him, so took these shots while showing him to my wife (her reaction, "OK, I seen him, heading back to the house"). I think he is a Northern water snake, but am not sure. There is an active stream nearby (about 20 yards away) and all the little critters he can eat like chipmunks, toads & moles.

The tree is a papaya. There are 2 more about 8' away. A squirell likes to sit on that post and eat my papayas for breakfast.

I think you have identified that snake correctly, although a young black rat snake can share those colors and patterns.
You can tell by the clouded eyes, that snake is going to shed its skin soon.
You are smart not to harm it. It poses no threat to you or yours.

Similarly, I know where to find these critters, and I know they are far from the house and not likely to harm me.

Mind you, I do NOT like spiders, but...

So the pictures are from the inside of the black plastic 100Gal water trough I used for the horses. I store it upside down and I was checking to see if these Black Widows were in there an sure enough they were. I was flipping it over to show my daughters. I only took pix of he big ones, but there were a good number of smaller ones also. These three were the biggest and easiest to photograph with my cell phone...

So... I hope you enjoyed that! LOL.

Be well all,
David

We've had a couple on our house and on our patio. Needless to say, they got squished!

Thought so. We have a small pond about 600 ft. from our house. A lot of poplars, brush, between the pnd and the house and then we have a thick patch of various firs in front of us. Started seeing these "stocky" birds flying back and forth between pond and firs and surprisingly the ID was "Green Heron". Any clue where these guys nest??
