Ok. if "digging" did not find the end of the wire, then disassemble further (carfully) I am not there so cannot advise on exact procedure, but the plastic insulating block (at least that is what I thought I saw) must be carefully removed, I expect to see on the back side of the block some smaller varnished copper wires probably soldered to some sort of a terminal lug, that the original outside wires also fastened to. Again I have never been into that clutch, and dont know how it is built for sure, just throwing out ideas at this point. But the idea is to get larger outside wires fastened securely to the terminals that the smaller varnished coil wires are fastened to also. Perhaps by disassembling and drilling hole just large enough by a terminal lug to pass a new outside wire thru to make the connection. Get some help from an electronics/mechanics oriented person is the best advice I can give you. I hate to see anyone struggle with something that I think I could fix. My first impulse it to try to reach out and "fix" it. I might not be actually able to, but I always want to try.

Well OK, ask your dad what course of action to take. But the way I see it you all dont have a lot to lose, as it is inoperative now, so unless he has someone in mind try to repair the clutch,, then you and your skills sound about as good as anything to me. Good luck my friend, and you never know what you can do unless you try. If he says go ahead, give it a whirl:thumbsup:

I cannot tell, obviously one wire no problem, I cannot see where the other one is broken off. Do you have an actual digital camera with a
"macro" setting designed to take up close pictures, like flowers and insects. Most cell phone camera's lack the ability to focus up close, I know my blackberry is worthless for up close and detailed work. One possibilty is grind some of the plastic around the one broken off wire to expose a little more of the copper from the broken off wire.. Then with a good solder (Ersine is one of the best, but Kester if that is all you got) "tin" the end of the exposed wire, and then "tin" the end of the replacment wire and "sweat" them together. then try to devise a clamp to take any strain off of the new wire. If you can slide a piece of heatshrink over the wire first before it is sweated onto the original wire you may be able to slide it down enough to cover your joint. As for solder, you need the old "lead/tin" solder not this "darn" lead free Rohs (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant crap they are selling now-days.. it is TOTALLY worthless. It will not flow, worth a darn.

Try to take a better picture, or if not possible, try and take your dremel with a fine point tool and "dig out" the end of the broken off wire, enought to tin it. Then run a continuity check on the coil with your ohmmeter and make sure it has a low resistance before bothering to solder it up.

I used a drimmel left the center and cut back both side. then i nibbled at it till wired showed. more nibbleing and you can solder.

Alright good, now can you or someone test the coil resistance and if it tests good solder some suitable wire back on the stubs of original wire?
