Hard---- Your knowledge of the Cub Cadet /Yanmar joint venture is impressive. The reference you make that Cub asked Yanmar to build a tractor for them is interesting. Where did you get that information?
Walmart, Menards, Sam's, Sears and any other mega retailer with any market share would like to have Cub Cadet. Why? Because it sells.
Why do you think John Deere bent over for Lowes last year to get in their stores? Because Lowe's and the entry level residential Cub Cadet units they sold had blown Home Depot and John Deere out of the water in sales and market share. Lowes did this with about 700 or so fewer stores. Deere couldn't stand it so they cut Lowe's a deal. Lowe's was blinded by the shine of the green paint and I think that Lowe's has learned, as alot of other people are learning that the shine of green and yellow paint "ain't what it once was" because I don't think Lowe's saw any growth and may actually have seen a decrease in sales last year. The only difference is that John Deere is a master in the marketing game and have been very successful at promoting their brand.
I have owned Deere and just about every other major manufactures equipment in the past. There are pro's and con's to all of them.
You had issues with a couple of Cub Cadets. I am sure that everything Cub builds is not junk as you seem to think. If it were they would not have been able to survive and keep the brand alive and growing since 1981, longer than IH could keep it solvent by the way.
