You should look very hard at the Power-Trac 425 tractor. I believe it would influence a number of your decisions.

That's what I did, so I'm going to assume the waterjet company isn't current on its software, or isn't skilled with their software, or both.

That is quite possible, that they are not up-to-date with their software. But from my experience, getting waterjet cutting is quite a bit more expensive than by laser. Have you found that in your area.

something you could do if you were looking for something compact is build a swing arm with gears/shafts similar to how a MFWD axle on a CUT. the vertical shaft that the front wheel pivots on would run up the arm and you could make the arm as long as you wanted and the arm would either pivot on the same shaft as the input from your pump or you could even mount the pump in the arm and use the bevel gears to drive the wheel hub.

I contacted 6 water/laser cutting companies for an estimate, 3 replied with the nearest one to me (water & laser) being outrageous. The other two water jet companies are in secondary cities along the Front Range north of Denver, and were comparable in price to each other. I'm happy with the work I had one company do; but will try the other one out the next time I need something done just to have something to compare to.

all the hydraulic equipment has already been specked out, from a hydraulics company. They actually got the hydro-gear engineers to run it through all their formulas to make sure that it would give me exactly the performance and the horsepower that I'm looking for. So I'm very confident with what we've come up with.

Boy, this is going to bum out JJ.

Here are a few photos of forming the shaft for the articulating joint. We didn't have to use the lathe, but we had 2 inch shaft kicking around and then we work it down to 1.75 inch. It only took about six hours, but it was fun playing with the machine. That's not me in the photo, that's Jerry, one of the nice people that volunteered to help me out on this project.

I'm very envious! :drool:Great progress. Looks like you're soon on your way to a rolling chassis.

I haven't been able to tinker with any of my "planned" projects. I ended up trading off my Hyundai Tuscon for a 01 F250 and have been kept busy fixing the little things and adding things. It's addictive and I have to remind myself it a work horse not another project vehicle to throw my money at. I wish for once my projects would throw money at me!

That's a job, that you never retire from. A hobby that you can make money from.

I've come up with an idea for a suspension system, for my machine's front-end. It's a little crude yet, but I'm looking for little bit of feedback before I refine it more. I've attached a few photos, and also did a video animation of how it works. Let me know what you think.

Not sure what to think about that suspension. Very unusual. Can you please explain it's purpose? I'm assuming you are using it to adjust ride height?
