txjim on that baler we bought there was a # of blown bearings in it.as well as bad sprokets an chain.plus a few other things wrong with it.so it was quicker an cheaper to let the dealer go through it.

The only things I ever remember dad taking to any kind of dealer were things under warranty.

I understand your point but my being a former JD dealer employee I see no reason to pay a dealer $95 per hr to do the same thing I can do plus I don't have to worry about whether I punch out or not when I take coffee breaks. How many bales had your newly purchased baler baled? It must have been quite a few for several brgs & drive sprockets to need replaced.

txjim it had only baled 1200 bales.an from what we know about it its a 2006.an been barn stored all its life.the guy bought it new used it for 2yrs then sold his dairy out.bottomline the baler was treat rough an not taken care of at all.an if repairs was made they wasnt right.we figure it had sat in the barn 3yrs without being ran.

I've baled way over 150,000 bales with several different JD rd balers and I've never seen the sprockets worn out with that few of bales(1200). The 467 I own now is at 17,000 plus bales on the original sprockets. Sandy soil and excessive chain oiling will cause premature sprocket wear. I don't oil my chains but use motorcycle chain lube.

Read the original post. This baler came from a dealership with a warranty through first cutting. Now he's already getting one warranty why take it to a dealer all over again?

You should be happy with that my dad is on his third new deere baler he had a 567 moved to the 568 and now we have a 569 with mega wide pick- up and high moisture kit an it is a hay eating sob we baled some hay in poring rain last year just to get it off the field probably not the best thing to do but it would have killed the field the hay had got wet a few days before we was very fortunate to not lose any hay the individual we was baling for only lost two small fields. You will like it they are hay eating machines

Automatic oiler the only way to go make sure the tank is full and let her eat give it grease when you are supposed to and there should be no trouble
