Rather harsh. I guess that company likes getting sued for unlawful termination. Unless there was something very damaging to the company or proprietary on the screen, I cant see that termination holding water in a court case.

Employment is "at will" in 50 of the 57 states (and a few more to go). That means that there is no such thing as, "unlawful termination" except for certain protected classes in some states. If it can be shown that termination was due to being a member of such a class (race, creed, whistle-blower, etc.) then there is cause for action. Otherwise, they can fire you for picking your nose with your left forefinger instead of your right pinkie, and it's perfectly legal. If the boss walks in one day and doesn't like your Washington Redskins bumper sticker, he can fire you for it.

I’m 51 and resisted Facebook for quite awhile but eventually joined it several years ago. It can be very addictive. Found myself looking at my phone all the time. Next thing ya know it’s after midnight and you had planned to watch a tv show at 8:00. Went for quite awhile not getting on tractorbynet because of Facebook. Now lately I’ve been cutting way back on Facebook and spending more time on TBN again.

Similar to the title of this thread, I was watching the local news one night recently. There had been a fatal car wreck earlier in the day. As the newscast was saying names weren’t released til next of kin could be notified, they were showing a video clip that showed the vehicle involved. Couldn’t believe it.

I have a Facebook account. I don't have my picture on it and don't post. I do keep up with friends, acquaintances, etc. I have no desire to tell everyone in the world every time I do something, post photos, etc. For other folks that's fine. To each their own.

My father's passed away June 13th this year. I posted on here about a week later, not on Facebook. I have some friends who live about an hours drive that I play golf with. I didn't contact them. They found out later and called on the phone. That was fine by me. Don't want folks to feel obligated in any way.

I have used the Facebook Marketplace to look at some listings on for sale. Yes it can be addictive.

I started a Facebook account to track down some cousins - there are about 70 of them but only a few that I knew well. Facebook worked good for that. Then I closed the account. A lot of people that I did not much like from years past wanted to be friends. Also I had no desire to share my information with the world at large.

One social media application my family uses a lot is called WhatsApp, it works on your smartphone. Me, my wife and the kids (now grown) are in one group, we can exchange news easily and so keep in touch with each other daily. It is a very good tool. One of my daughters uses it extensively at work to manage different workgroups, it is excellent for sharing information among coworkers.

Other than that just TBN.
