The cause is typically a bonding effect of the clutch plate to the flywheel via rust. It often does not take much—condensation from several hot days and cooler nights can do the dirty. In my experience driving with clutch pedal depressed usually does the trick. But if you have bern chained to a tree with pedal pressed down and no joy. It's been a few years and no problems with the clutch until last week. The tractor sat for about 10 days during which time it was humid and rainy. Now the clutch won't disengage. Tried the chain and tree method and dragging it around the yard. Nothing seems to help. Next step is to split it open. What is the likely cause?
It is time to ip the ante—try hooking on a PTO implement and running it with the pedal depressed. If this roes not eork, look for an inspection plate and try a slight prying pressure to assist the clinch springs pulling back on it.
Hopefully the PTO implement along with driving will do the trick.
