Deere load control leak

Hi all I'm new here so be gentle, I have searched but haven't found a answer so I will just ask

I have a Deere 301A with a large leak from the load control shaft. I need to replace the o ring on both sides. Do I need to remove the bushings to get to the o ring? how is that done? Looks like it should be a easy replacement, any advice?

I can't remember ever changing them in a 301, but I don't think it's any different. The o rings can be changed without removing the bushings, but there's a good chance the bushing are worn and it will just start back leaking. If they don't appear to be worn you can give it a try. I would also look at the shaft close, sometimes the o ring will cut a groove in the shaft.

The bushings are drove into the housing. To remove them, I use a long punch (coming in from the opposite side of the housing) to catch the edge of the bushing a drive it out.

Wear on bushings will be determined by how much use and difficult loads were exerted on 3 pt. I think side to side movement of the shaft causes more seals to leak than worn bushings so be sure to shim draft arm to shaft snug.

Your right about the side to side motion ruining the seals,digging about 100 post holes is what started my 2040 to leaking real bad.Shelly rock would just sling the post hole digger from side to side as it went through the rock.
