Isn't the Shell Rotella 10W-30 called "SB" for "Synthetic Blend"?

I tend to trust people. Afterall, why would they come on here and lie?

Per TBN rule #3, you would think a user would want to support his material.
Forum Rule 3. No advertising in the forums.

The rules I see are:

3. Posting or uploading material that is false or inaccurate.

Without anything to support people's claims, I can say if there post is true or false. Again another reason to ask them for data to support there post. The person reading the results could be 100% correct or 100% wrong.

I trust people, to some extent, but the numbers speak for themselves WITHOUT the user stating one word.

correct. I would pay about $7 to $8 per gallon for the oil; tops.

Pour point is like -30 below. So pumping would be like -10 tops for 10w-40. 5w-30 is like -35, so real pumping is -15 F.

Ash is around 1% and TBN is around 10. I do not know what ZDDP, CA, VI, HTHS etc are but it is easy to find.

I go back to my original response (see below). Anyone can type numbers into a post, not to mention the fact that most people do not understand those numbers anyway. At some point you have to trust, or not trust, what people post. Even the TOS (what you referred to as rule 3) does not require proof that something is true.

Others also post numbers from their oil analysis, no one asks for a scan of the hardcopy results. Even then, we'd be trusting that the information is really from oil W, run through engine X, for Y hours or Z miles.

Again, I have a very hard time believing that someone who states they have hundreds can’t post 2 lonely oil tests into a thread??? This action takes really 10 minutes out of someone busy time.

With all the post on testing on this forums and others, the results have been pretty dumb- downed in todays age. Even I can understand it!

True but a little homework here you can double check some values. If someone says (for example), that rotella went 50,000 miles and there TBN was still 10.0, I would say sure, ya right. If they stated, there ZDDP was above 1200 ppm I would again, say right right. I could go on and on here. The numbers from the tests should be inline to some basic depletion of add pkg’s & base oil. Again, something has to go up for something to go down. When someone states wear numbers I always say lets see it. Then when someone states dirty oil etc, let see the oil tests since they could be such a wide open comment it is comical. Define dirty or clean oil and then go from there.

To close after 10 months of asking, still nothing. These is worse the Area 51 material.

And if they posted oil test numbers that showed this, would you believe them?

That is kind of inline with this post "noticed no difference in all with wear patterns."

That is reason why I asked for clarification since anyone can post anything. Numbers at least aid in supporting your claim. .

That is why when people state, as I posted above, “When someone states wear numbers I always say lets see it. Then when someone states dirty oil etc, let see the oil tests since they could be such a wide open comment it is comical. Define dirty or clean oil and then go from there.”

Again if people posted the numbers, let the users make they decision on what is good or bad. To me, when someone makes a flat-out broad statement at least show something here.

If not, the sky is green, the new BX24 will have 24,000 HP, a 30 feet boom etc. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Would you?

I would have the choice of at least SEEING the data other then someone just posting on how they see it.

Mike, the point here is at least the user is posting something; at least they are trying.
