Is it possible the hood or some sharp object is rubbing on it or maybe the fuel cap?

am going to examine mine in the am.
yes I do question myself at times.

No apology needed here... you may well be 100% correct. All I know is I see both ULSD and LSD tags on pumps depending on where i go.. not sure if the people have just been lax at replacing the plaques.. or if it really is LSD.. If I had a 2007 diesel I'd probably opt for safety and operate under the premise that the fluid was as 'marked', and only visit those with the ULSD tags.... but.. I don't have anything that new.. soooo.. not much of a problem for me..

I may have given out false info on this-
The Low Sulfur Diesel (LSD) may still available legally, I'm not sure, and have to leave to help a neighbor, will try to find out when I return.
My apology for speaking before I researched.

Check everything over no sign of rubbing.

This might be craZy talk here... but in my owners book it stated something along the lines of keeping the tank full so that condensations does not occur, could that have anything to do with it? I know that when I'm almost done working with my TC, I'll fill it up if I have the diesel around... Just thought I'd toss that into the mix... what do you think?

Interesting point.

Everyone with a deteriorating cup. chime in on what diesel and adds you use.

for instance.. on road / off road, and what general sulfur level.

Any adds you put in as well.

My cup is not rotting. Mine is a 2002 7610s.

I use on-road low sulfur diesel, and power service white bottle.

I use road diesel - whatever is available at the gas station. However - I think the problem has to do more with environmental factors such as UV and ozone vice the diesel as it seems to have more to do with exposure and time vice the fuel spills. My guess is that they didn't use the right additives when making the rubber. Your slightly older unit was probably done right. Does anyone know if there is a service bulletin out on this for the boomers?

True.. mine is a 2002.. and the people here stating they have a problem seem to be newer than that.

...Having said that, mine is an 2006 and I don't have any issue. I use road diesel with shafers in it... Burns good... I've only spilled fuel once and I did not see anything bad happen. I bet there was a bad batch of rubber somewhere...

A bad batch that made alot of stocked parts for replacement and assembly line no doubt.

Anyone else seeing any other deteroiating rubber parts that are going well before their time? My 7610s doesn't have much rubber.. but has a little..
