Are they all splitting like the one in the picture? That looks like a stress crack from being too small.

Perhaps the rubber is shrinking and cracking? ( stiffening? )

I still think the supplier cheapened or changed their formula, resulting in a weaker (stiffer?) material. NH will work through it if that's the case, demanding a change, especially when they are stuck with a lot of warranty work.

I agree with you.(bad mix of rubber)
Ordered another today --maybe NH will send out a memo or recall regarding this.

Hmm.. that looks thin. On my 7610s it is thicker and 'appears' to have fibre imbedded in it.. ( kind of like those rubber feed buckets for farm animals.. uh.. fortiflex.. etc.. )

Is it possible the hood or some sharp object is rubbing on it or maybe the fuel cap?

am going to examine mine in the am.
yes I do question myself at times.

Rubbing or a sharp object definitely did NOT cause my filler cup to deteriorate. In my case, it developed cracks around the drain hose fitting, and started leaking when I spilled. I tried to reposition it one day, and it just split from the filler neck to the outer edge, making it useless. After I removed it, you could tear strips from it like a sheet of paper. Because my tractor stays in the weather 95% of the time, my first thought was that the material used to make this thing was not capable of withstanding the sun, and just rotted.

The only other issue with my tractor plastics are the shift/pto knobs developing small cracks, and color fading, which I feel is not a manufacturer defect, but due to the tractor staying in the weather most of the time.

Still haven't gotten to research the ULSD thing but I will, if nothing else, just to satisfy my curiosity. This time of the year is really busy for me so hopefully one day........

At this point after others memebers have claimed the same results evidence in pictures, even new replacements a week or two old, It would be safe to say it's a bad rubber mix.

Soundguy--notice diff in thickness showing it's being made diff these days.

For me it's under warranty to replace --here's the but --am still going to get the same cheap rubber replacement...
