I still think the supplier cheapened or changed their formula, resulting in a weaker (stiffer?) material. NH will work through it if that's the case, demanding a change, especially when they are stuck with a lot of warranty work.

I concur.

I'm sure NH specified a good stable compound. However, it's all but impossible to ride herd on vendors to verify they always use the correct rubber compounds. Stuff happens. That doesn't make it right, they should still back it up.

Well, I started this post a few months back and got a kick out of all the feedback. I got my third filler/spill cup last week. Filled the tractor up today for the first time since and noticed the cup already starting to split. It was the same Canadian vendor shown in earlier pix. Maybe if I duct tape it real good, I won't be able to tell the difference. I'd expect junk from a Chinese vendor (for the cup) but would hope our neighbors to the north would have done better. Not sure if I feel like a never-ending ritual of changing these things, but will probably go back to my dealer and have him fuss at NH and see if they can't do better.

I know it's no consolation, but the cup/boot on my dad's 1720 (predecessor to TC 34) is now 19 years old and still in very good shape with not a single crack. Since the neck on the 1720 tank is metal, I'm not sure if it would fit the same, but it might be worth looking into. My guess is, they just used a cheap, poorly vulcanized, form of rubber in the new version.

FWIW.. as i mentioned before.. my 1920 never had a problem either.

this points to a new supplier or new compound that has been used.. etc. my 1920 was a 1997 version.. etc.

nice tear in it now --I walked over to all the new tractors (all sizes) on the dealers lot found same problem cheap rubber...

Is it really a big deal?

All depends on how good you are at pouring fuel into your tank..

IMHO.. I wouldn't want a new tractor with a damaged filler cup, from the factory. Whatever NH did to their rubber supplier.. it must be new.. my 7610s has a good one...

your right - i feel the same way, Dealer makes very little of it and has no complaints or knows of any recall about this ongoing issue.

I'll order a another one and keep at it til they get it right.

7/10/08 picked up new one.
This time it's not covered under warranty--dealer called up CNH.
CNH has no reccord of complaints so the Dealer put in a assist to check in other areas for complaints.


I paid $20 and change I wouldn't mind if that was the end of it but it keeps on happening this is my 3rd replacement -again I checked for ruff spots and checked the fuel cap for irregulars all is good lets see how long this one will last.

I'll keep you posted.

thats a good practice. I always refuel and grease my tractors befor i put them away.

I refill my BX23 anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 full.
The 2 bx1500s when the idiot light comes on or shortly there after.
