Sure he had a pro Ford slant. Which is OK by me. But he'd also owned several other brands and would point out plusses and minuses of all brands that he had experience with. One of the best guys to hit this forum with trailer advice.
Maybe he just got sick of some particular knuckleheads who wanted to butt heads on each and every post just because. Some guys feel a need to argue every single point. Maybe their parents didn't buy them enough toys when they were children. I'm guessing DP simply got sick of it.

I think you're right. Was a lot of arguing going on in the past few years. Seems like a lot of of veteran members have gotten sick of the attacks and dropped off.

He did at times make an outrageous statement/claim inviting controversy. Let's not put him on a pedestal, he invited many of the arguments. Nor should you judge some for challenging him with a cheap shot.

I was going to say the same thing but kept quiet. You are correct. He had some good information once you sorted through some pretty heavy biases and attitude. Nothing against him though and hope he's well.

At 56 years of age I'd hardly put anyone on this or any other forum on a pedestal. As far as judging anyone for "challenging him with a cheap shot", if you don't think there are some on this forum whose basic function is to troll and antagonize, we'll just have to call it a difference of opinion. But that's pretty much any forum, not just this one.
I've got no numbers to back this up, but in my opinion this forum seems to be slowing down these days. You see threads languishing for quite some time with no responses that would have been jumped on in no time in past years. I only cruise by here infrequently anymore, there just doesn't seem to be a lot to hold my interest. How many post about people hauling something the wrong way can a person read?

There's alot of members that seem to fade into the sunset. I find alot of newbies to the forum ask questions that have been beat to death and don't want to search for the topics. I find myself checking in alot less frequently than I used to and posting even less. I completely agree with the above post though as I found alot of his post to be flat out nonsense alot of the time. DP had a flair for the inflammatory for sure.

I’ve joined a few tractor groups on Facebook and I think that’s where at least some of the activity has moved to. I don’t like that format for this type of discussion however. I’ve been here since 2005 or 2006 and although I don’t post much, I read a lot and I’ve found the forum to be immensely helpful, for both my job and hobbies. I hope DP is OK as well.
