Do you have the manuals for your expensive tractor?
Messicks serves up the parts manual online Kubota Parts | Buy Online & Save. And for about $100 @ I got the hardcopy workshop manual and parts manual for my M4700.

Too many people ignore getting the manuals and get deadlined when it could be a simple fix, like a twig caught in a cable.

On my Branson with independent electric over hydraulic PTO the pressure to operate the PTO clutch comes from the pump that supplies the loader and 3pt hydraulics. Something that greatly reduced trans fluid flow would affect both drive and PTO.

Did you tractors come with the Kubota 6 Year Driveline Warranty, or it that only recent?

What size rotary cutter or Bush hog was being used?[/QUOTE

A 6 ft cutter. And the brush was probably 18-36 inches tall.

Your tractor will have no problem spinning a six foot cutter. Have you checked the knob under the seat that controls the lift. I know you said the lift works try closing and opening the knob and see if that helps.

If that does not help, time to obtain warranty service and repair. Ask for a loaner, because it sounds like more than a one week repair.

After the. Tractor sat over night, a friend came over and after carefully looking at the dipstick, this morning the fluid looks low. But would low fluid cause this situation with the FEL still working fine (has power to lift tractor off the ground) and the PTO and HST not running correctly? Also is there any fluid I can buy on Sunday that is as good as Kubotas for HST?

Is there fluid on the dipstick? If so it isn't low enough to cause a problem. The trans hold quite a few gallons (10.6) and have to be substantially low to cause problems. Since it happened quickly there would have to be a quick loss of fluid, which should be noticeable.

I looked at the parts diagram and it appears the the input shaft for the trans hooks directly into a spline adaptor on the flywheel so hopefully that's not the problem!

I believe the pto clutch might run of the charge pump for the hst? If so it's possible it has faile somehow.

There is just a bit on the tip of the dipstick. Thank you for looking at the parts diagram. I am at a loss. It is crazy frustrating to have such a new tractor (87 hours) that is a pretty much a garage queen, quit on you in the middle of the field. Thank you for help!

I went back out to see if I could figure out any more symptoms. The output PTO shaft does turn when the switch is in the on position but it must not have enough power to turn the blades of the bush hog so I thought it was not engaging, but it is, just with almost no power. No hydraulic fluid leak found so far, but I am still looking.

This is probably a really stupid question... Does the shaft to the brush hog turn when the pto is engaged? I was just wondering if your slip clutch on the cutter side could be slipping or the shear bolt broke at the cutter side?

Were you in thick brush that had twigs that could have snagged something underneath? If yes I agree with others check the linkages to the pedals. Does the pedal have any resistance at all or does it freely and easily wobble back and forth?

Is the tractor parked on the flat now or side of a hill? You have definitely tried to shift to other gears with no results right? As others mentioned you may have a clutch that needs depressed at some point of shifting ranges. I assume you have checked all this since you have 87 hours on it now but just rattling off things as I think of them.

If the linkages seem ok I would suspect the fluid level although it seems that would have impacted the loader. Maybe the HST filter is clogged if it had one? I would think the engine would bog down though when using the pedals if that were the case.

Maybe your dealer would have an idea tomorrow when they open. Good luck, I am really curious what you find out.

The PTO turns and responds to the throttle when not attached to bush hog but once attached it doesn't even have enough power to spin the blades. The pedal moves freely and returns to center as designed but does nothing at all to engine noise and makes NO effort to move tractor. Tractor is still in field sort of in a little valley.
