It sounds mechanical to me, although I'm not as knowledgeable as the others. I've had things as simple as a roll pin fall out that disconnected important parts....on a brand new tractor no less.

Is it still under warranty?

After the. Tractor sat over night, a friend came over and after carefully looking at the dipstick, this morning the fluid looks low. But would low fluid cause this situation with the FEL still working fine (has power to lift tractor off the ground) and the PTO and HST not running correctly? Also is there any fluid I can buy on Sunday that is as good as Kubotas for HST?

Well, it's Monday morn & I can sure understand your frustration with the tractor doing that at such low hours. Are you going to go with the dealer mechanic or continue to try to fix it yourself?
Whichever, please do post the outcome to the group.

Some thoughts: HST fluid expands a lot when heated. It is normal for the dipstick to have two marks on it - one for cold and one above that for hot. But if only a little bit of fluid was showing on the bottom of the dipstick that certainly isn't optimal. But even that low it is enough to avoid problems. And the way the loader works seems to back that up. The loader, PTO, and power steering continued to work on my my Kubota HST+ when the HST did not respond to the pedal. As I said, mine was a broken control cable. But frankly yours sounds different.

As for fluid on Sunday, it sounds as if you didn't need any. I don't know of any substitute for Kubota's best trans/hydraulic fluid. My Kubota dealer uses New Holland trans/hydraulic oil for doing routine hour service.

I would be checking the power steering section of the hydraulic pump and the regulator valve, that is what usually feeds the steering and then PTO clutch and the pilot valves, pistons for the HST.

I would be letting the dealer handle it it may be possible if you do something to it you may have to eat the cost as it might void the warenty

I took it to dealer who is backed up for 2 weeks so it is just sitting there waiting to be looked at.

Update, talked to dealer today. He said it was a shim in the HST that had gone bad allowing a plate in the transmission not to engage correctly so there was no pressure being built up. He let me know that they had not opened the transmission up yet but that Kubota had already sent the parts out which makes me think that this may be a known issue since they haven't even opened the tractor up yet. Will be covered under warranty thankfully, but it does make me wonder if there should be a service bulletin or recall on this as if it happened a little later, it would be a costly repair and it is certainly early in the tractors life to have an internal transmission failure of any kind.

Got my tractor back. Repaired under warranty but only by about 2 months! It was something about a needle bearing inside the transmission moving out of place and allowing a pressure plate to move and not engage this no movement from HST. This is apparently something Kubota knows about happening because they have figured it out and had produced a shim kit of some sort to place inside the transmission to correct the problem. Thank goodness it was still under warranty!!
