Glad it got resolved and you got your tractor back!
Got my tractor back. Repaired under warranty but only by about 2 months! It was something about a needle bearing inside the transmission moving out of place and allowing a pressure plate to move and not engage this no movement from HST. This is apparently something Kubota knows about happening because they have figured it out and had produced a shim kit of some sort to place inside the transmission to correct the problem. Thank goodness it was still under warranty!!
What worries me is if I would have waited a few more months, the repair bill would have been $3200 for a "known issue." The dealer said "be glad you were still under warranty" and I asked so in September (warranty until Aug) would this have been "all at my expense" even though it is a known issue and he said yes. If there is a problem with Kubota L4701 HST transmissions large enough to make a fix kit for, and the repair is $3200 at less than 90 hours, owners should have been notified. Just my opinion.
Agree. Even with vehicles it sucks that manufacturers have known issues but won稚 usually cover them out of warranty. Granted I suppose some things might be depending on the manufacture, but I have seldom heard of this.
In your case I wonder if there are any symptoms other owners could look for prior to the failure which could be after their warranty ends.
