Actually, i think it will not affect Kioti much. In truth, I think it is McCormick who shot themselves in the foot. They started off well, with a good lineup of Ag tractors but no homeowner tractors. Landini made a very nice range of tractors but did not market most of them under the McCormick name.
Since then they have drastically cut production of models, and focused only on the big tractors, going for profit margin, rather than sales volume. Their main seller is the CX which is a somewhat out dated machine. They have completely ignored the basic utility market. For smaller tractors they have been all over the map and the Daedong agreement is the next version of this.
The DK55 is a solid ag utility tractor, but has no frills and is getting out of date with it's basic 12x12 transmission. Other brands have very nice powershuttles and 16x16 options. The larger DK's are too expensive for what you get.
Landini/ McCormick could have successfully marketed the Alpine with it's modern transmission, they also could have done a much better job marketing the Powerfarm./ CMAX which is an excellent tractor. Here in the US they priced it too high, and it only had the claw links instead of extendable links when ALL of their competitors have them.
They completely ignored the 55-75 lighter weight utility market with only a weak attempt with the CL line, but no cab model. The CMAX 85, their smallest tractor cost $52K discounted with a loader. In line with a 5085M but they had no smaller ag tractor. I think this is what they are after with the DK 55/75/90 models, but there are better machines out there in this class.
The smaller Daedong tractors are fantastic but McCormick has shifted around too much to gain consumer confidence. Plus, this year, they are requiring dealers to order a minimum of 12 tractors to keep on the lot. I think they will stay a minor player even though I prefer red tractors ;-)
