Did you build or buy your tractor shed/garage

Do you build your own Dolly痴 or does someone make decent heavy duty ones. I知 thinking for my 500ish pound snow blower and whatnot in the off season.

I build them with rough 2X4 lumbers coming from the land and casters from Home D駱ot. As easy and simple as one can figure out. Each is tough and will last forever.

With some implements the only issue is to make sure the pressure points are well adjusted in order to remove the pressure correctly on the tractor 3 pts. Them hook and unhook is a total pleasure.

Regards,

I built a garage / shop to store the tractor and a implements. They lived outside for about 3-4 months while I built it. It is 20 x 30, plus the second floor area ( 6'6" high x 8 wide x 20 long) for storage. In hindsight, I probably would have made it 24' deep and 36-40' wide.

I have a lot of stationary wood working tools and other equipment (snowblower, lawn mower, chain saws, weed wacker, etc..) Seems that something is always in the way. I'm thinking of doing an enclosed 'lean to' to put the implements in to free up some space. The 6' finish mower, 54" box blade, and a post hole digger are in the smaller garage door, the backhoe goes on a dolly and moved into the center section, the tractor behind the big door.

It's really tight in there! Go as big as you can. This was all 'pole barn' framing except for the second floor.

Thanks guys, I've been thinking more of a lean-to to start.

I have a Mortons dealer 5 mins from the house....met with them and got a quote...Yikes! I'm sure they are great buildings but those are not in my budget.

I appreciate all the photos, its great seeing what others have built.

I have a 36'x48' Morton that is now 38 years old (cost me just under $10,000)
Fantastic building!
Your sidewalls look high enough for a lean to be the perfect solution for your needs.
Either side...or both !!

Bought a 18' x 20' metal carport with sides and a back. Added my own sliding tarp opening in front. Upgraded to heavier structure and snow load. Works well. Reasonably priced compared to other options. Has held up well. Would do again.

I use the Harbor Freight dollies and add 2x4痴 as needed.

I had a 5-bay "machinery" shed built on a concrete pad. One bay as a workshop with a 'clear' roof section for natural light. The shed faces South for maximum UV protection for everything stored in the shed.

The pad was essential as all of my implements are on wheeled pallets, that I assembled myself... I can simply roll them into position on the tractor and they roll/butt-up against eachother for ease of storage.

That's a nice get up Wag.

a lot dependson on the amount of money one has, if you can afford, the labor to have it built, then do so, but if funds are hard to come by, and one has time, built it your self, if physical able,

and unless one does not love there tractor they can set out side, like mine have for the last 40 years, ,

I stored mine in a neighbors barn, but ran into this metal carport recently. It's working well and the snow just slides off the roof with a little push. It was originally purchased from Costco for $220 or so, but the original owner never used it.

Now that I have it up, I've going to build a pole pavilion (covered on 3 sides like the carport) in this space. I also have been getting quotes for a 24 x 36 pole building and building costs just have risen too high recently. IMG_2207.JPG

I have a 24×36 pole building that is divided into a 12' bay with a rolling door and a 24'x24` space that is my wood shop. I added a 12'x24' lean to that is used for a wood shed and general storage. The tractor stays in the 12' bay and the lawn tractor in the wood shed.
The building came with the property, it was built from a package by Western Farmers co-op, I don't think they are around anymore, no idea what it cost originally.
No, it's not big enough, I could have a 40x60 and I would probably outgrow it in a year or two.:D
