As I remember, and that could be wrong, the PS bottle says that using more than the recommended blend is not useful. Who knows? John

While it's not going to hurt, i.e., nothing "to be afraid of", I believe the instructions indicate that using a higher concentration wont help either.

Why wouldn't it be sufficient? The website indicates that when used as directed it prevents gelling down to -40F. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

To all. I don't have a jug here at the house, but if I remember right it does say that you can double the amount to raise the cetane level. It doesn't say anything about needing more for gelling. If a person knew for sure, I bet that the difference between the different PowerService products is for marketing so that they can get more shelf space.

PowerService has the instructions for use on their website and your memory served you well. Their cetane boosting and injector cleaning products indicate you can double the treatment levels. Their anti-gelling product do not.

You don't have to double the amount. You don't have to add extra. You will get protection down to -40 with the recommended amount.

Last night after I did chores I pulled found an old bottle. It was from 2000. Nowhere on there does it say anything but what I posted above. I'm not sure of the bottle that pine got but I never remember PS saying that. Not saying it didn't but it had to have been a long time ago or a different kind of ps. In the winter we go through thousands of gallons of diesel every month and have not had a problem. The last problem I had with fuel gelling is when I was coming back from a rodeo 20 years ago. It was really cold and I stopped off on the way home to get some of the "winter blend" fuel. Next morning my fuel was gelled. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Using our own fuel treated with powerservice I've never had a problem.

So while we are onthis subject. Has anyone seen an improvement in the performance from using PS in your tractor? I bought a bottle today at Wally Mart to give it a try. What have you guys got to say about performance and which one should you use at this time of year? Wally mart carries 3 varieties now. They have the white bottle, grey bottle and a new improved grey bottle. The white raises the cetane lavel 4 notches. The grey raises it 6 notches. Opinions please?

Richard I have always purchased the PS from our local TSC. The last jug was purchased just prior to filling my bulk diesel tank in late Oct. I'll be looking for the new PS whenever I go back to TSC, this won't happen again.
