Diesel in winter

Cat_Driver- Thanks for the link.

I double dose the Power Service White bottle as well. Power Service recommends against the continuous use of 911 as an additive.

I didn't hear what the mix ratio was that he used, The white bottle Power Serve does call for double the normal dose for that temperature.
Also, the 911 doesn't prevent gelling it is supposed to cut a channel thru the gelled fuel and lines and filter to get you started and back to a warm shop.

That was my thought as well. Using 911 made me question his knowledge.

LouNY got it right. 911 is for thawing gelled fuel. How long it takes and how long he let it sit...idk. i do know that kerosene dosnt gell nearly as easily and is safe to mix at 20/80diesel

The 911 and 2 stroke oil should not have been compared, although he did say the 2 stroke oil was by request.
I found the Howes lubricity results (worse than untreated diesel) to be concerning, although I personally don't use that brand anyway.

I just got my winter supply of diesel, additionally treated with Power Service White.

Sooner or later despite the additives sitting diesel fuel will collect water. My fuel was double dosed with Power Service (White) and ran well all last Winter until early January when I fractured my Patella. My tractor sat unused from early January until late May this Spring and I had serious water challenges (now resolved).

Power service white (the one tested) is for anti gelling. You really needed an algee treatment. Water freezes yes but water also grows algee.

Im glad 2 stroke was tested at least in the lubricity part. Bil be adding 2 stroke to my diesel again. The power service products realy failed on these tests. Il be mixing kerosene and diesel for antigell, 2 stroke for lubricity and not sure what for an algee treatment.

nyone- Thanks for the suggestion and I agree. I did and replaced the fuel filter as well. I probably did not need the 911 additive at that point, there was already the doubled dosed PS in the tank, and I also added Power Service Clear-Diesel which removes water and scum. Whatever I did it worked. I also switched from Power Service (White) to Diesel Kleen additive the next time I filled my jerrycan. I probably have residuals of 4 different additives in the fuel tank at this point. If I understand the Power Service product literature correctly, one can safely mix PS additives in the diesel fuel.

It was interesting, but am not too sure about the true validity of this "experiment" video. He was comparing apples to oranges with his selection of additive products and I do not know if he used the PS (White) and Howes additives as recommended.

I use PS white, Diesel Kleen and biocide when filling my 50 gallon tank. Not sure if I need it all, but seems like cheap insurance to me. I know that anti-gel is an absolute necessity in Northern MI. Only a fool would not treat with anti-gel.

I treated the tractor and 20 gallons in 5 gallon cans with Power Service which will be plenty for this winter. I have a can of 911 on the self in the barn if it does jel up, and breakout the heaters.
